This is getting out of control, both sides being just as bad as the other.

Vancouver fans are hyping absolutely NOTHING.

Montreal fans are getting way too defensive and aggressive in that regard.

So far, all that is known : for Sundin, it's between retirement and hockey (he could play for the SEL for all we know)

This is just getting way too ridiculous.

The 6:30 Eastern edition of Sportscentre reported that Sundin "hasn't ruled out any offer", and that he's still considering Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver (they mentioned all 3 teams). They also had reported the quote from the interview referring to Toronto feeling like home.

Seems like we're still where we were before Sundin went fishing.

Montreal doesn't have the cap space.

It was a Toronto writer giving his own interpretation on what was said.

How many times does this need to be said?

Clearly Mats is more likely to sign with the NY Islanders than Vancouver. They won cups in the 80s, they could do it again!

I think Montreal is tapped out on the history card front...they tried to repeat history with Price playing the role of a young Patrick Roy and we know how that turned out...

Said somewhat bitterly by a Canucks fan who is getting sick of this sniping. No, I wasn't being serious or knocking Price's abilities, you can calm down.

considering i was told i was being delusional apparently i had to mention it a few more times to get it through to the person in question....

another thing on the sundin front from another poster:

"Elliott Friedman on the team 990 a few minutes ago:

- He's believed all along that Sundin wouldn't go to Vancouver and basically just said that ''based on what I have heard the last 24-48 hours, I believe that even more now''

- He thinks Mats would choose Montreal before Vancouver. Fully believes the New York Rangers were his first choice but that door is closed due to Sather spending all his cap space.

- He believes that Sundin is scared lots of Leafs fans will forever hate him if he dons the CH and that would ''hurt'' his Leafs legacy.

- Said Sundin has over 100 M in the bank."

I have wanted to clock Elliot Friedman in the face for 4 or 5 years now.

Because he stated that according to 'his sources' (who by the way are probably just as connected as the Russian Spy on your board), Sundin would NEVER in his life choose to go to Vancouver.

Bitter much?

If it was for the money Sundin would be in Vancouver already. $20 million and he still hasn't signed

I would say all three teams are in the running still. It seems that Vancouver and Toronto are getting more press regarding Sundin lately, but that usually means little. When the time comes, we have all been surprised by players and their choices.

So, I'll just wait and watch him sign with someone like Washington out of left field.

Actually, what the man said was that "if it was for money alone, I would have signed with Vancouver already".

He also said "I'm a professional hockey player, so of course money counts, but I also need to look at the wider picture".

I read and understood the original interview, and Sundin is true to form and doesn't say anything at all except what he wants to say (which is that the DN article is totally bogus).

He's says that no doors are closed, but really there's 4 doors open.

Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver or Retirement.

If this were 10 years ago, I'd say Sundin would already be a Canuck, but at this point in his career, I really doubt the money means AS much. I know both the Habs fans and Canucks fans think Sundin will sign with their respective teams, but no one knows for sure where he's going, not even Sundin himself, so the fans that are saying "he'll sign with my team" are just being stupid.

I haven't responded to any of the Sundin threads because I didn't want to jinx anything. I would be thrilled if Sundin were to sign with the Canucks. I wasn't so sure about it when the UFA period began but then all of a sudden players started to sign with others.

By reading everyone's posts it's fairly obvious that everyone has their own opinion on where Sundin is going to go. I unfortunately believe he is going to go back and sign with Toronto. 13 years with one team. He won't turn his back on them.....Unfortuntaely they already have on him.

The funniest part of the interview with the man was that he admitted that he had no clue about signings other developments.

The only one he appeared know about was Joe Nieuwendyk.

Which makes all the posturing by various fans even more silly

He ponders retirement on not, he doesn't give a crap about the actual teams yet.

I like them. They are a great rival and they always managed to be a good opposition, no matter the teams they had. (and we did the same when our team was crap in the early 2000's).

A Montreal vs Toronto game is always special.

Sundin: "Ok Fletcher, I'll play next season. What have you done this summer?"

Fletcher: "Well, we gave 3.5M to Jeff Finger... Mats? Mats?"
