Oilers need to be stronger against their division rivals
just noticed this today, Oilers are the worst in the west when looking at the divisional numbers; granted we are in arguable the most competitive division in the league. You'd think we'd be able to get a few more wins, and at the very worst have CBJ or Chicago behind us.
St. Louis 8-7-1-0
San Jose 8-5-2-0
Los Angeles 5-5-4-0
CBJ, Minny, Dallas and Edmonton are the only 4 who hold under .500 records. Oilers stand out like a sore thumb, a whopping 5 games under .500.
You wanna talk about bad goaltending, bad coaching, bad special teams, lack of production from our stars. etc etc. all valid points, but the fact of the matter is we gave too many points to the teams we couldnt afford to lose to so frequently. (Minnesota and Calgary)
I agree the Oil should have a much better record. Vancouver and Colorado have had Edmonton's number for a while now, but the Oilers have fallen short against Minnesota and the Flames which has hurt them a lot this year. We should have a better divisional record than both of the latter teams IMO.
