For the recent Pirates games in Springfield and Philadelphia the video didn't work until the middle of the first period. 2 games in a row in 2 different cities. Also when the Pirates had a game in Orono, ME they didn't broadcast it. I asked for a free game, but was told no. If you pay for 80 games, you should get 80 games.

AHL Live Ads

As of Tuesday 3-3-09 AHL Live has a 15 second ad that plays before you can watch a highlight, video on demand, or live audio broadcasts. The live game video broadcasts and arcives are ad free, but you pay for those. This is terrible. I sent then an angry e mail and have yet to hear back.

How dare a company try to make back some money on content you don't have to pay for!

Does anyone know how much they're going to charge per game in the playoffs? I see it's $40 per team/per round so if it costs $6 per game then it'll be worth it to just pay per game.

It's $8 per game. A bit high if you ask me.

Definitely too steep. Fans of whichever teams make it to the finals are going to have to spend $160 to see all the games. That sucks.

I'm usually pretty patient when they have technical problems but at $40 a round, I better not miss one second of play.

Does anyone know if access to archived games comes with the round-by-round team coverage? I emailed them this morning to ask, but haven't heard anything back.

Edit: Got a response not too long after posting this. Yes, the round-by-round team packages do include access to archived games.

For $2 more, you can go to one of the Milwaukee Admirals 1st two playoff games.

I had the same problem and wrote them to ask about it. Here's the response I got:

Log a complain to Neulion. I complained to them and they fixed up the system so that I can view archeived games that I previously had access to.

The prices for the Calder Cup finals are insane. $50 for the series or $10 a game. That's way over the top.

Wow. Considering an HD PPV game on TV is $15, that's ridiculous.

I was hoping they would have a decent price so I could watch the games, but I really don't feel like paying $50 to watch games on my computer

I have a free game code from a Pirates game that didn't work, that's the only one I'll be watching.

The customer service is crap. The prices are too high. But for dedicated fans it is the only place to watch our team play online. When AHL Live is working correctly (often it is not) and you get over the fact that you overpaid for the game watching is quite enjoyable.

A warning to others...

Wow, just wow, I just got an email saying they are auto-renewing my subscription unless I contact them and with little to no warning. I know if that was an option to select, I would not have done that, so they are doing this on their own. Just a continuation of the issues and problems with AHL Live, IMO. Oh and the price they are autorenewing at is higher than a deal I was just sent for being on an AHL team mailing list, although that special might just be for away games not all the team's games. Of course, they make it less than simple to get any answers either.

I never got that email. they haven't renewed me yet either. The cost for 1 team season pass is $149 with the early bird special, which is about what I paid last year. I'll make sure I read the fine print before I renew though. I wonder if it includes archived games.

edit: If it wasn't there last year, it's definitely there this year. thanks for the heads up.

This auto renew pisses me off. Yes I do want to wacth my team this year, but I want to be the one who signs me up, not them. The e mail said the credit card would be charged on Oct. 1. But today 2 days later I still do not have access. The Pirates games come up as "Get It" when I sign in. It should say "Ordered". I e mailed them yesterday, but am yet to get a response. They better do something soon, as the season starts tonight.

Definitely sucks. I renewed with a credit card that expires in January so when they try to renew, it won't work.
