Yeah, I want to know is Salo happy in Vancouver? Does he want to stay?
There is nothing to indicate Salo isn't happy in Vancouver. The closest thing to an "incident" was our coach Vigneault saying Salo played too lightly in exhibition games/training camp, which was why he got injured.
And nothing more came of that. That is just the only time I can ever remember our team "calling out Salo" on much of anything, except maybe that he needs to use his shot more.
Salo, when he isn't injured/recovering from an injury, is probably our most complete d-man, or at least, tied with Ohlund, for that honor.
But as Sens fans know, he is injury prone, thus I can see why they wouldn't want him as their first choice and would rather have Bieksa. Also Bieksa punches peoples faces in, another reason to want him.
He misses 20 games a season....I mean, we can't afford that as he gets injured so often so I'm hoping Bieksa is the one that comes to us.
Also, Salo has NTC, so I doubt he would waive it.
If I were Canucks I wouldn't do that trade, If I was Ottawa I would jump on that trade right away. You know why? Corey *****ing Schneider, he is going to be an absolute stud goaltender for the next 15-17 years in the NHL. If there is any prospect I would keep untouchable on the Canucks it would be Hodgson and Schneider.
Also I believe Salo would be your top-scoring defenceman if he was on your team and wouldn't be injured as much in the East.
I didn't really like Salo with the Senators and I don't really like him now.
He's the least desirable of Vancouver's $3M+ defencemen from my perspective.
I'd much rather keep Vermette. It's not as if we're saving a lot of money in the deal either.
I would guarantee he would be your top scoring defenceman and add another huge weapon to your PP. Alfredson-Spezza-Heatly-Salo-Mezjarso has the potential to be the most lethal PP in the league. Salo is also the best defenceman for Canucks at times when he gets into a groove that does virtually everything, he could literally skate the puck into the offensive zone, unleash a wicked slapshot and score like it was nothing.
I bet you 90% of Canucks fans would prefer Salo over Bieksa.
When healthy perhaps. I would take Bieksa over Salo, especially considering the length of both contracts, and i can't see Salo becoming more injury resistant with age, whereas Bieksa can still improve his overall game considerably.
