OT: New York Giants and Jets Thread

With training camps opening, and the "Dark Knight" thread heading to seven pages, I thought it's time to open up the football talk.

Let's go Jints, heave ho two in a row, baby!

This will be my 25th season as a Jets fan. I'm not optimistic.

The above statement I post every year, just changed the 24 to a 25.

I actually feel bad for Jets fan. As a life long Mets fan, I share your pain.

Its tough for me to watch Jets games any more. They get more and more painful each year.

I think the Jets need to make a serious offer to the Pack for Farve, just so they have something to talk about.

Remove the shudder, as the Jets will better than the Giants this year.

Mets have won in my lifetime, and got to the world series not too long ago.

Jets are on another level.

Jets will make the playoffs this year.

Yes, I'm serious, we are on a strict schedule of on and off seasons and on means making the playoffs and losing before the conference championship and off means top 10 draft pick. And since Vernon Gholston is in green, it's playoff time lol.

I'm rooting for the Giants to make it too, even if it makes me less of a Jets fan. I'm grateful that someone finally beat Boston and since it was New York I'm obligated to root for them

It doesnt at all. I've been a lifelong Jets fan and hated the Giants until I realized how childish that was. Its not like Rangers/Isles where we are in the same division/conference. I root for NY teams in football & baseball, if my fave team is playing a NY team though thats a different story.

They, like the Rangers, added alot of new bodies, plus the QB situation is still unstable. And like the Rangers, I think the coach will have alot to do with how successful the team is this season.

I grew up a Giants fan and thru a family connection had Jets season tix for a while (during the Richard Todd - throw 5 INTS a half years) so while the Giants are always at top of my list, I'll root for the Jets as well.

Just to make matters more complicated, I married a Philly girl who LOVES the Eagles. Thankfully she's not a Flyers fan but a big NYR fan. It's been fun to taunt her and her family lately about her iggles (if I see that damn Marky Mark movie one more time....).

Living in Atlanta it has been downright fun to see what has happened to the Falcons in the last year or so - what a mess.

Anyway talking about the Jets, one of the many ESPN blowhard "experts" was suggesting that Bret F would be a good fit on the Jets - I guess saying that they were a QB away. Thoughts?

The most important thing Farve would do for the Jets is take away the back pages from the Giants. I think the Jets and their fans would actually thrive a bit under Farve and what he would bring from a personality/sound bite POV. Don't think they would be all that much better, but they would at least get some more attention.

It's funny, the blowhard in question was Skip something and Steven A Smith almost had a heart attack when he suggested that the Jets were a QB away.

See above, you want to put a wager, avatar or cash, on which team's season is better?

Ken O had some great games against Marino & the Fins. Besides that, I can't remember the last time I felt comfortable with a Jets QB.

I'm a die hard Packers fan, always have been. This Favre **** is pissing me off, thats all I have to say about that. Its a huge distraction. If Rogers stays healthy, and starts every game, I'm going say they at least go 9-7. With the Lions, VIks, and Bears all blowing, that record will win us the North.

I don't follow the local teams much at all, but since talk about them is all around I can't help but know whats going on with them. Of the two, I pull for the Jets, but they stink so, meh. I'm a Mets fan, so they seem to go well together as well.
