Rochester lineup combinations?

Now that Cunney's off to Atlanta, who's in contention for the Amerks' bench boss position?

Think Paul Maurice would accept another term in the "A"? He is buddies with DeBoer, and it doesn't appear to this point that there's been much interest in him at the NHL level.

Other suggestions?

Forgot his name, but the guy who was coaching the Everblades for the past 8 seasons has moved on in order to move up and his name was mentioned as a possibility for Rochester when Cunneyworth was seen as a contender for the Panthers' head coaching job.

How's that for run-on sentences?

Charron could be a candidate.

Gerry Fleming is his name, and I agree he is probably going to get the job and would not be a bad choice IMO.

Nice list, but I don't think Sprukts is officially signed yet. He would definitely be up there if he was. Don't forget about Garrison on defense. And I think Duco can play in the first 2 lines. Duco ripped it up last year with Kitchener and Peter Deboer might be anxious to make sure he gets a good chance in the AHL

Your right, I actually had Garrison at forward and took him out and just forgot to put him back on d... I really was just listing plyers rather then naming lines, ya know? Should have a decent team there

yeah it looks pretty good. It would be nice to see this team do better next year, now that it is a full roster of Panther players. I think I will follow them a lot closer now. I might even go to see a game or 2 in toronto.

DeBoer won't be making that decision, though - the as-yet-unnamed coach will. Whomever he may be...i.e. the topic of discussion here.

I know he wouldn't be making the decision but I'm sure since he has coached him and he knows Ducos strenths and weaknesses he might have some good advice for whomever is selected to coach the Amerks. Duco was on fire last year as far as points, goals, aggressiveness. He is one type of player that the panthers don't have, someone with grit and scoring ability.

Globke is no longer with the organization.

Syvret isn't signed.

Lapointe isn't signed.

Matt Rust isn't signed.

Now that that is out of the way, lines will probably look something like this:

Michael Frolik - Janis Sprukts - Michal Repik
Stefan Meyer - Andrew Sweetland - Anthony Stewart
Tanner Glass - Drew Larman - Dan Collins
Kenndal MacArdle - David Brine - Steve MacIntyre

Rory Fitzpatrick - Keaton Ellerby
Jason Garrison - Michael Caruso
Peter Aston - Luke Beaverson

Chris Beckford-Tseu
Tyler Plante

Not 100% true. I remember when JM spoke about getting the Rochester problem solved and the only part I remember getting out of the article was that JM was excited to have a sole-AHL affiliate so that we could have our own play style incorporated. I mean I wouldn't doubt that what you said will be the case but I hope they do JM's idea.

It's worth noting that these lines we are coming up with are very average, and the team might not be that much better than last season. I know a lot of Amerks fans aren't pleased with Florida right now. I'm sure that won't go over well with a lot of people, but that's how it is.

Wouldn't doubt that Stewart is in Florida this year, if not he will be MUCH better than he was last year. He's been working out all summer...which is the first time he's ever done that.

Wouldn't disagree with this, however... The Panthers are rebuilding and therefore so are the Amerks... The prospects will keep flowing there over the years, next year we'd expect Rust, Lapoint, Dadonov, Robak, Lee, Jenks and possibly Comrie to be added to the team... In my opinion I think it would be nice if we sent Peltonen there to be the captain of that team, maybe add a vet for some scoring depth up front... I am just happy we finally have our own team, and while we may put Roch thru our pains right now it is the first year that the team is just ours... I expect it to gain strength over the years.

Some issues with the names you provided.

Dadonov is a huge wild card, as are all Russians.

Rust and Lapoint will have only completed their sophomore seasons, so there's a good chance neither will turn pro next season.

Robak, Jenks and Comrie all all not AHL eligible for the 2009-2010 season, so none will likely turn pro.

John Lee will only have completed his freshman year at Denver, so he is probably 2 years away.

So, like I said, there's a good chance none of the names you mentioned will see pro hockey for another 2 seasons.

Since people missed the point of my post, I'll just rename this thread to reflect the new topic of discussion. It's a shame, since the OP clearly wanted to talk about something else. Maybe next time.

I'll take a shot at the line combos. Mine are with the assumption that Sprukts will be signed.

Frolik-Sprukts-Repik
McArdle-Sweetland-Stewart
Glass-Larman-Meyer
MacIntyre-Brine-Duco

Extras
Collins
Callas

Ellerby-Fitzpatrick
Garrison-Aston
Beaverson-Caruso

Extras
MacDonald
Henry
Delory

Beckford-Tseu
Plante

Extra
Shantz

As a sidenote, anyone know what the Panthers plans are with Jassen Cullimore, I know he is a UFA. He'd sure look good on the Amerks blue line.

Has Collins really soured that much in the eyes of Rochester fans?

If Cully can't get an NHL contract this summer, I think he'll just retire from pro hockey altogether. I don't see him going to the AHL.
