Trading Drury possible?

With the way Dubinsky has been playing this year, it's clear that he's got talent. What Dubinsky brings is what I think we wanted from Drury. Having Gomez and Dubinsky as the top 2 centers is a solid foundation.

Even though Drury is deserving of the "C", I think it was a mistake because he's the one guy that we need to trade (if needed salary room).

Do you think it's possible to trade Drury, this year's 1st round pick, Sang, and Prucha for Kovalchuk.

Drury and Prucha will help fit Kovalchuk's salary within the salary cap.

The 1st round pick hurts but it has tremendous value and we need to include value to get someone like Kovalchuk.

I hate to lose Sang but I think Del Zotto will be the better player. We're also trading from a position of strength since we have so many defenders locked up for a long time.

It's clear we should keep Dubinsky and Zherdev together but we still haven't found someone to mesh with Gomez. Gomez-Kovalchuk, Dubinsky-Zherdev is an amazing core to build on.

We need a sniper like Kovalchuk that we can count on to finish and help the PP. I think Kovalchuk makes us strong Stanley Cup candidates.

The question is, would ATL do that trade?

Ask your self this question.

If you were Atlanta, would you trade a 25 year old perennial 50 goal scorer for Drury, Prucha, and two unknowns?

I highly doubt Drury waives his NMC on a team he is captain of to go somewhere else. Especially if it was Atlanta.

far more likely you would trade Gomez....and get a better return.

You couldn't even trade him if all you wanted to do was dump his salary. He's completely untradeable. So you can only hope he puts up some modest numbers and contributes with big goals.

Next year is the last year on his contract.

His contract expires after the 09-10 season.

Drury, our newly appointed captain... who is starting slowly... should be traded.

Only in Rangerland.

Trading Drury = ridiculous

Ridding ourselves of his $7.05m contract = sensible

Too bad you can't accomplish the latter without the former.

There is a post on the Pens board saying Minny is exploring trading Gaborik, and they asked the Rangers about Drury ????????

Would do it in a heartbeat. Drury blows. 7 mil for like 50-60 points. We can easily spend it on Gaborik : ).. Get it done Slats.. Throw in a prospect and we rollllinnn.

I said this when the Rangers signed him, I said this when he left Colorado as a FA, and I'm still saying it now. Drury is a very good THIRD line Center and a very good Penalty Killer. He is not a top line player, but for some reason he is getting paid super star money. If he was making much less and playing on the third line, I would be extremely happy with him. But for what he's making, he is not worth it at all.

There is no way the Rangers trade him, because he is untradeable.

I'd rather have Shanny on the team, wearing the C.

Drury isn't a great Captain in my opinion...and he's not a great player. He's been invisible. The signing was a HUGE mistake. I'd LOVE to trade him.

That "top line" ain't looking too top notch.

This is the only beef I have with the team, right now. I just don't like the guy.

What happens when Gaborik starts off slow? Who do we trade him for?

I think your right about his salary, not sure why Minnesota would want Drury either, I think they would be more interested in Dubi and Staal or even Gomez, players with a lot of good years ahead of them.

I would trade Gomez for Gaborik in a second. I don't see why the Wild would do that though.
