Jassen Cullimore

Has anyone heard anything about his status? I expected he'd be re-signed pretty quickly after the season he had last year. Obviously he wouldn't be a guy signed to build around, but the way he played last year I was figuring they'd lock him for a year or two to play as a 5th or 6th d-man.

I guess JM would rather have Boynton, and open a spot for Welch and Van Ryn coming back. I thought Cully and Monty would be signed quickly, as they were both pretty dependable last year and could be had for pretty cheap, but the team seems to have other plans.

Yeah, Cully had a solid season, but Bouw, Ballard, Allen, Boynton, Skrastins, and Welch are all better, and Van Ryn and Murphy are also signed for next season. Just no room. Hopefully he does get a shot somewhere else, but with his age, it might be the end of the line for him.

I'd rather see Cully here than Murphy.

disagreed, Allen and Boynton are better and play a similar role. Murphy really impressed me before he got injured and seemed to lose his confidence when he returned. Our top 8 should be:

Bouw - Allen
Ballard - Boynton
Van Ryn - Skrastins
Murphy/Welch

I guess it really depends on what happens regarding injuries because that could determine who steps in. Like for example if Allen or Boynton go down or Van Ryn (heaven forbid) than it would be nice to have Cullimore around but I think if Welch is healthy he could come in and do a good job.

I see Cullimore as an experienced veteran that can successfully plug holes in the lineup.

Murphy, however promising he was pre-injury, was a shell of himself afterwards. IMO he's still an experimental option who's biggest upside is as a PP specialist. I'd rather have someone with a stronger defensive game, like Cully.

I think Welch is even better than Murphy(post-injury), Murphy really couldn't move the puck well and always seemed frustrated because he couldn't move the puck in the defensive zone.

I'm a little surpized no one has given him a shot yet. Maybe if no one signs him we can give him the same deal as last season and bring him up once MVR blows his wrists again.
