Glen Murray bought out

http://bruins.nhl.com/team/app/?serv...ticleid=369023

Boston Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced today that the club has bought out the final year of right-winger Glen Murray’s contract. Chiarelli will speak with the media via conference call today, Saturday, July 26 at 3:00 p.m. ET.

Following the buyout, Murray becomes an unrestricted free agent and can sign with any other NHL team.

toronto should consider picking him up cheap if Mats decides to come back. That would be a decent top line and Murray is far from over in his career, see Billy guerin.

I think the Jackets should consider Murray. Get him for 2 or 3 mil and throw him on the 2nd line with Brassard and Modin. Then move Torres to line 3 with Peca and Voracek and we have a strong team

you my friend did not watch the playoffs or the entire bruins season last year. murray is done. hes doesnt have nearly as quick a release as he used to which was his main reason for scoring goals. he is one of the slowest players in the league. he takes dumb hooking penalties every game. his only use was goal scoring and he cant do that anymore. by all means i hope toronto picks him up. That may be the only way to make that team worse than it already is.

That's a great post, actually!

I don't think Muzz has anything left in the tank...but I thought that about Recchi too.

And just how do you expect San Jose to sign him with their practically no cap space? They still got Ryane Clowe to take care of and I'd put him as a priority over Murray.

The only way is if Murray signs a deal similar to Roenick last yr - say, $700-800K. He could fetch more from other teams.

Clowe is still the priority and even signing Murray for that amount would be tough for us cap-wise.

If there's cap room for Murray in San Jose, I can see him signing there

I think we could use him if less than $2 million on the line with Jason Spezza and Dany Heatley.

Vermette could be traded for a defenseman [potentially Bieksa.....I hope] and Meszaros re-signed.

EDIT- I'd like to keep Vermette but let's see what happens.

Why would you put Murray on a line with Spezza and Heatley when you got Alfie? It makes no sense, at all.

Because Alfie is used on the second line [alternates] to spread the scoring around as he plays with Fisher.

Alfredsson is consistently used on the first/second line.....It could be within a game or couple of games!!!

I'd like to have him on the Penguins as a forth liner who has a great right handed shot for the powerplay. Play him 15 minutes a night but only 6-8 even strength. Would score 20 goals.

Not going to happen though...

A number of teams are probably willing to gamble on him at around 2 mil. I would predict Toronto or Vancouver.

He's a good character guy, but if he's not scoring he's useless. He brings nothing else to the table.

He had an ankle problem taken care of which might help his mobility, but he hasn't looked real good since 2004.

I wish him nothing but the best, but it was time to move on from his salary.
