Are you really interested in Gab, or just throing something out there for the hell of it?

I'd imagine you couldn't re-sign Marian after this year and would only be renting him for a year...? After giving up prospects for Hossa, I wouldn't want to dump even more young talent...

Hemsky for Gaborik (with extension) straight-across.

Gabby being a better player but Hemsky with a very nice contract for what he brings. It's tough to say who wins but I would love to see Gaborik in an Oilers uniform as we still need a pure goal-scorer.

Flame away.

But seriously, that would be highway robbery by the Leafs.

Not sure this is equal either, but Los Angeles gets a big name on a team lacking that right now, unless they're willing to stick with Kopitar and watch him develop, he is undoubtedly the future of that team.
There is nothing equal about this offer.

In his first two yrs. Gaborik had 48 goals, 55 assists for 103 pts.
In his first two yrs. Kopitar had 52 goals, 86 assists for 136 pts.
At 20, he is already a stud, while Gaborik is a band aid boy.
Dustin Brown will score 35+ goals a yr for the next decade as he leads the league in hits.
And to make matters worse, you want to add a likely top 2 draft pick (Tavares or Hedman) into the deal.
Ridiculous.

we would b able to resign gaborik with satan, sydor, sykora, gill all off the books...and i do not think staals ceiling is as high as others may think and goligoski just doesnt have a spot on the team right now...the only prospect id have a problem with is caputi

Call me crazy but i wouldn't trade Kopitar for Gabby straight up let alone adding a beast in Brown and a frickin 1st.

I guess theres a reason you have 5 posts...you just learned to print

Man...If Lombardi was dumb enough to do this one, I'd do it in a second if I were Risebrough.

Colorado could probably throw something together, but I don't ever see the Wild dealing him within the division.

Here are Minnesota's needs:

Fast and skilled scoring wingers that don't lack size
Fast and skilled scoring centers that don't lack size

Unfortunately, Gabby fits exactly what the Wild are lacking, so it doesn't make sense to move him. We're actually looking better than ever on D, and our system hides the need for a goalie, so it'd be scoring wingers or centers.

I have a solution:

Buy a few rolls of duct tape and then sign Sundin.

The entire reason the Oilers would want Gaborik is to have someone capatalise on all the chances Hemmer generates.

We don't have a 2nd in 2009. We could take on some salary if Gaborik leaves.
