Why did Nash miss 5 games? A sore throat like last season?

According to my EHM 2007 simulation, Rick Nash will score 75 goals. Of course, I also traded Jaroslav Balastik for an unhappy Chris Drury, which sort of helped things.

The Fantastic Balastik for Drury. That sounds like an NHL 08 trade.

97 points and we'll still be a few points out? Last season 9 teams made it with that or less, you must be expecting a hell of a race!

Maybe I'm wrong then lol. That might be a little high. I didn't look at any standing before my completely arbitrary numbers were thrown. lol

I expect to see Detroit, San Jose, Dallas, Calgary, and Chicago in definitely. Then I see Edmonton, Nashville, Anaheim, Minnesota, us and Phoenix fighting for those last three spots. Colorado, Vancouver, St. Louis, Los Angeles are out to me

Well, the game was made after the 05-06 season and they figured that Balastik was decent. Drury was going to be waived since Buffalo was over the cap limit, so I helped them out. So

Okay, I'll bite (guess)
Nash 45g 38a 83pts Umberger 17g48a65p Huselius 27g42a69p line goals 89
Modin 19g29a48p Brassard 17g39a60p Torres 18g30a53p 54
Chimera 11g18a29p Peca 14g32a46p Voracek 15g35a55p 40
Murray 7g12a20p Malholtra 9g18a27p Boll 9g12a2ap 25
other forwards (excluding Filatov surprise) 3g9a 12p 3

Total goals from forwards 212

Defense
Commodore 2g11a14p Tyutin 6g18a25p 7
Klesla 7g13a20p Russell 6g18a25p 13
Hejda 1g13a14p Backman 5g14a19p 6
Other defensemen 1g8a9p 1

Total points from other defensemen 27

Total points 239

Hmmm, okay we probably won't score that many points, though I'd love it if we did. Certainly that would put us well into the playoffs. But the numbers are reasonable provided Brassard and Voracek play up to billing, assumes nothing at all from Filatov, and really doesn't assume too much from the defensemen beyond a reasonable improvement from the highly skilled Russell, and some improvement from Boll (presumably he'll have a little help fighting).

Okay, they're all pulled out of thin air. But whose aren't this time of year?

Prediction.

First 20 games of the season the Jackets get off to a so-so start but have issues with a struggiling PP. Just so happens Plekhanov is tearing up the AHL 20GP 8G 13A 21Pts

The Jackets call him up to spark the PP with his ridiculous shot.
50GP 11G 23A 34Pts

He also plays bottom pair at ES.

I think Torres will not get very many points. Maximum 30 - 35.

I agree with you. I'm guessing 21-15-36, at some point he's overtaken by Voracek.

<Ken Hitchcock>
I expect each player to earn at least one point at some point throughout the season.

Since we're going to win all of our games 1-0 (or at least go to a lot of shootouts tied 0-0) that should be all that is necessary </Ken Hitchcock>

Nash - about 80 points , about 50 goals
Brassard - about 50 points, about 30 assists
Huselius - about 70 points
Modin - about 45 points, about 20 goals
Torres - about 30 ponts, maximum 15 goals
Voráček
- about 50 points, about 30 assists
Boll - about 20 points, about 10 goals

defense is difficult because I do not know whether Russell will play and where.

But we will see .

That is 47 more goals scored than last year.

I hope to god you are right.

I have no doubt our goals will increase.

It's the goltending I'm worried about.

How can you be worried about goaltending if Pazzy is able to play the way he did the beginning of last season with a better defense in front of him?

I'm a big believer in the law of averages.

Leclaire has averaged 36 games a season since he turned pro.

Without last season, he's averaged 32.

Makes me nervous... That's all.
