This talk and disrespect about Q is nauseating and it makes me think that maybe a lot of people here don't know as much about puck as they think they do.
The guy who is now coaching Chicago, who should still be coaching Colorado, is ten times the coach of the current Avs bench boss.
Let's see, how many Cups has Q won as a head coach? As many as the current Avs coach...ZERO!
And Q deserves all the criticism that he gets around here. The guy is a great regular season coach, but is continuously outcoached in the playoffs. His handling of goalies is extremely suspect, and putting guys like Brad May and Wyatt Smith on the top 2 lines on any team is just a coaching decision you should never make.
For Hawks fans, with the Red Wings in your division, and 6 games against them a year. You should know that in Q's 3 years behind the Avs bench, he compiled a 2-13-1 record. 05-06 (0-4), 06-07 (2-1-1), and 07-08 (0-8). And 06-07 was the team that DIDN'T make the playoffs.
The Hawks won more games against the Red Wings LAST YEAR alone, than Q did in 3 years, with some decently talented Avs teams. Have fun with that!
I kinda wish the Hawks had gone with Tortorella instead of Quenneville. I still like Q but I just think Torts would be a better fit.
In any event I wish Joel the best--though I personally thought it was indeed time for the Avs and Q to go their separate ways I still think he's a great coach. And yes, I still think he's a better choice than the guy we got behind our bench right now.
