Tor / TB

Tor:
Kubina

TB:
Jokinen
2nd 09
Quick

TB loses one of it's plethora of top 9 forwards, and acquires a much needed top pairing vet defenceman. The pick and prospect evens out the value.

I would say that this is a reasonable trade offer, but I don't know if Toronto would be interested in it. Toronto is overstocked with top 9 players as well (not to mention with D-men too) and is probably looking to package players for one quality top 6 forward. This deal doesn't meet their immediate needs, and only adds to their own plethora of wingers.

Given that Toronto has just resolved the Bell situation, I would hope they would stay away from Kevin Quick.

I'd do it. I'd love to see Grabovski and JJ in the shootout!

Not bad, not sure if we want Kuby's salary but I think his presence would help & is worth having to do some shuffling around.

I can't believe someone is including Quick in a trade proposal though.

As a Lightning fan, I would not want to see Kubina back in Tampa. He left for the big bucks and Toronto gave it to him, now hes their cap problem. Plus, theres no reason to deal any of our draft picks next season. Just...no.

It's pretty weak to hold a grudge against a guy who offered to come back here for $1 mil less per year than Toronto offered and was told "sorry we can't afford it" by our GM. Why is he in the wrong here?

Kubina, though a good player is overpaid... and therefore dosn't worth paying the asked price... Not even sure they can afford him.

Toronto does not have a cap problem, they have a number's problem, and are trying to clear out a defenceman.

I think the deal is almost a fair deal. I think its a decent value for both sides.

Meh. I don't do it with Quick going the other way. I like the base of JJ and the 2nd though.

Can't speak for that poster, but what little i've seen of Quick is exceptionally impressive. The negative intangibles from the credit card thing are the only reason to trade him.

As far as the trade, I like it except for the cap ramifications. Kuba & Jokinen for Kubina? Fits salary wise.

Helenius is not going anywhere....unless a top tier player or an amazing trade is coming.

Comeon' how can you trade Kubina according to some posts hes worth Kopitar, The Sedin's, 2 1st and 2nd. So long as the other team was getting a 3rd back as well.

According to the Leafs haters...err non-Leafs fans around here at HF, Kubina is only worth a new pair of shoes and maybe a seventh round pick!

Who can't afford him? Tampa is still under the cap & the new owners have been racking up the bills, it should be obvious they can afford what they choose to afford. Inform yourself next time, and I have no clue why you quoted me when you didn't address anything I brought up whatsoever.

I think he got probation, but I don't remember at this point. I found it weird that someone would ask for him due to that whole situation anyway.

I certainly hope not, no desire to see that kid go at this early stage.

Why don't your respond to the thread at hand. There are three or four leafs posters doing all the bad bad bad proposals. One guys was locked almost immediately as he admitted to starting the thread to get people worked up. I'm under the suspicion he isn't even a leafs fan just someone who started an account to start those threads to make leafs fans look bad. That was the Kubina for the Sedin thread. You'll also see Leafs fans go into those threads and bash them as well

There is a rumor rumbling around that TB could trade Jeff Halpern and Jussi Jokinen for Bryan Mccabe. It's not a blockbuster and I feel that Mccabe is worth more, but Jokinen is the best shootout player in the game and Halpern is a character guy.
