Who is he and what is his position?

Please don't tell me he is going to play defense.

avs first round pick a few years ago. winger, a big bust thus far. he supposedly has offensive talent that he just has never been able to get going. maybe this call up will open his eyes.

That quote has been used for Kuleshov more times over the last three years than I care to remember. We are really scraping the bottom of the proverbial barrel.

Blake and Brigley put on IR. Hahl will probably play tonight. And it's no joke, Kuleshov was called up, and will wear #43. He only has 3 goals and 4 assists in 39 games thus far for Hershey. Got to wonder why he was called up.

No word on Forsberg yet.

Why Kuleshov?

Two reasons:

1. Showcasing him... for trade-bait.
2. They can't bring up Krestanovich for any more games, because he'd have to clear waivers when they send him back down. (And HE wouldn't clear.)

So... Kuleshov will be the "prospect" thrown-in for a forthcoming Avs' trade. Let the rumors & speculation begin!

3. Kuleshov and krestanovich are the only avs forwards left in hershey. krusty is hurt so that really gives us no choice.

this really ahs to suck. here is a list of avs prospects currently in hershey after the callup...
Jordan Krestanovich
Agris Saviels
Jeff Finger
Tomas Slovak
Peter Budaj
Tom Lawson

can we say ouch?

This is the reason I get so pissy about Lacroix's ego getting in the way of using the waiver system. There have been forwards all season going back and forth on waivers and we barely have any in our farm system. Why not pick up a guy or two and refill the depth on the farm? Why not pick up a Jeff Heerema or even Rob Zamuner just to name a few. Only costs the waiver fee. Before anyone says contract on Zamuner, what's two million dollars when you can get a real NHL calibre player for nothing when you've paid more than that for guys who are hurt and can't play. I can understand being frugal but for cryin out loud, they should have worried about that before they pieced together a cup contender. Friggin Kuleshov, that's lovely. Now it's not even an award to get called up, they're doing it because they have to. Now that I've spouted off on him maybe he can make me eat my words and become an NHL regular like he was drafted to be. Can a brother get a rolleyes smilie around here?

Well, just look at all the injuries that the Avalanche are suffering from...

Adam Foote (Groin) - Day-to-day 2/18/04
Peter Forsberg (Hip Strain) - Day-to-day 2/18/04
Brad Larsen (Groin) - Day-to-day 2/12/04
Andrei Nikolishin (Abdominal) - Indefinitely 1/24/04
Rob Blake (Hairline Fracture) - Indefinitely 2/9/04
Travis Brigley (Bruised Shoulder) - Indefinitely 2/12/04
Dan Hinote (Mild Concussion) - Indefinitely 1/29/04
Marek Svatos (Shoulder) - Indefinitely 10/12/03

That's a lot of injuries, no wonder that there are so few prospects in Hershey right now. Riku Hahl seems to have been taken off the Avs' injury site, so he could be playing tonight against Dallas.
