Back Up

I think Joel Lundqvist will play LW with Modano. I originally was going with Ott, but Lundqvist is also good on faceoffs, responsible defensively, has better offensive potential, and the coaches were obviously higher on Joel in the playoffs. This is the year that Joel Lundqvist finally gets off to a good start and has a good regular season. He's already proven to be a quality player in the playoffs. Finally, I think Fabian Brunnstrom ends up as Modano's RW, and it would be an easier transition with a fellow Swede on the line.

Ott and Mo had a known chemistry last year, so don't see why they should swap him with Lundqvist.

Otter.

I went with Ott also. Lundqvist makes some sense if Brunnstrom is the other wing, but I don't think he will be. Lundqvist and Modano have no known chemistry. I also fall into the camp that believes Modano benefits more from Ott's checking than he suffers from Ott's lack of offensive skill. Ott is also superior to Lundqvist at faceoffs, if we're talking about temporary alignments off draws.

I went with fabio here. I think that he will play on the left side and Avery has Richards wing on this so that is why. I do also like the idea of Lundqvist and Brunnstrom as Mo's wingers. That would mean Fabio on the right, but I already voted so oh well.

This has been the closest so far. While Brunnstrom is in the lead, I still think the only way he plays LW is on Richards line. I believe he will play RW most of the season.

brunnstrom is primarily a LW not a RW. I would think they would keep him there, but i guess we will see. Either way I do think he will be an effective player so left or right is really irrelevant.

I don't understand why people want to fix something that wasn't broken. Ott was great with Modano. Although he didn't finish every oppurtunity he got, he was still a great shutdown winger. Plus, that was his first full-season in the NHL. He should improve. Brunnstrom hasn't proven anything. He is basically the next Miettinen until he shows something.

Am I mistaken? I thought he broke his ankle during the 06-07 season?

He did, but this still wasn't his first full season. Like I already pointed out, he played one full season before the lockout and another after the lockout.

i cant vote yet in these threads, but i would pick Otter for Mo's LW and Brunstrom for his Right wing..

mo still has the shot and i feel he is most effective with a player who can get in the goalies face...ott could make his game centred around that...brunstrom would be ideal to be a speedy right winger suiting mo's brilliant passing...

My bad. I meant to say his first full-season since his injury. Bad wording on my part.

you should put who plays what position in the voting if you could. I see some voted for Ott but he normally plays LW if not center ( unless im an idiot and he plays RW and center lol)

I voted for FB, who knows how he will do but for some reason i wanna see him play and I think he could do well with Mo

oops my bad i thought it said RW

Just a rangers fan's opinion here, but Avery should be playing with Modano.
Personally I think he will drive Richards nuts. I love Sean, wish we still had him, but you never know where he's going or what he's doin and I don't think that works with a guy who likes to dish like Richards. I also think Modano has a better chance of keeping him under control on the ice, lol, and if you dont think he needs to be kept under control you are in for quite a treat when he gets his act going...he's hilarious, your gonna love him!
