leafs are fine

There have been rumors that the leafs need to make moves the fact is they don't.They have a great offence if belfour get his back fixed they are fine there and there d is alright. However they need to use there brains now and then roberts
domi have to think before they act don't take dumb pens etc and they will be fine.

On the one hand, I agree...after all the Leafs are tied for 1st overall in the NHL with an average defence corps.

Imagine what they could do with a good defence? With Belfour it doesn't have to be a "great" defence, but it still needs upgrading.

They need somebody else who can soak up the big minutes. Kaberle and McCabe isn't enough.

If they want to really go for it then 2 more D men capable of being in the top 6 (or 1 top 4 and a depth guy) and maybe a winger.

Can they get lucky? Sure. But with this line up they would need all luck because injuries are going to happen.

I think some sort of pick up needs to be made just to show the roster that management has at least a little interest in stepping things up.

There are no guarentees and i would rather see a trade that addresses a need in our roster instead of one to 'show fans this team is serious', the payroll is adequate to compete in the east, a dman is needed.

My question is whether the leafs will have to pay extra to aquire one? Other teams seem to get players for a buck and a quarter but the leafs always pay a premium.
