I'm kind of curious about this myself. I've been looking to build wrist strength because my wrist tends to hurt after hockey, has anyone else heard anything about this?

Theres an easier way to do it.

I made something myself, basically I cut a hockey stick in half to get part of the shaft, and then I drilled a hole in the middle of it and typed some rope through it, and on the other end of the string that dangles down, I attached a 5 pound weight, and you just need to wind the string up and down with the weight to build muscle.

It's kind of like this
but more ghetto

I have one and yes it does work. When I get the thing really going I have a hard time holding onto it. It does make a bit of noise so don't expect to be able to use while TV without others in the room telling you to knock it off.

I personally use hand grips and do wrist curls. I can't say how well this works, but I know that I've made improvements by using some pretty basic equip. Hand grips are about 10 bucks, and wrist curls can literally be done with a shoelace, a pencil, and something heavy.
