Which NHLers are actually worth the $?

I should preface this thread by saying it's my own personal bid at overcoming disillusionment...

In an era of inflated salaries, impending economic catastrophe, and perpetual underachievement, which NHL players should be considered bargains or at least worth their biweekly paychecks??

This is going to turn into a bashing the rich kid thread, but I'll try to stay on track here.

The first name I thought of was Jarome Iginla. If anyones worth it, he's the guy. He's the franchise player, a great ambassidor of the game, and a huge asset to the Flames and the community. He's making a ton, but without him the Flames would be totally lost.

Roloson, 2.2 million a year and a real nice guy. Dupuis too! He makes less than 1 million this year.

Guys that take beatings and bleed for the team. Ryan Smyth comes to mind. Iginla is up there as well. So is Joe Thornton.

Anybody that pays their dues in the minors for years, comes up and busts their ass for the team that's "held them back" for years deserves a mention as well. Rob Skrlac's situation is the first thing I think about.

Matt Cooke - 9th in Selke voting, scored 42 points despite playing on the 3rd line with no powerplay time, tied for 2nd in shorthanded goals, world class hitter and pest: $525,000

9th in Selke voting? So what! The rest of the of his accomplishments are solid, just don't use 9th in Selke voting as something to brag about. What was it? Maybe one Vancouver media member?

From the B's :

Axelsson is making around 1 mill - works his **** day in and day out. The best PK
on the B's.

Knuble see above (except PK) also 1 mil.

Glen Murray is making $ 3.6 (1.9 and 3.4 last two years) and gives B's consistent scoring. ( had stats very simmilar to Guerins with more assists and make less than 1/2)

Scott Walker 2 mil/year for the next 3 years is definitely worth it, he IS the HEART and SOUL of the Nashville Predators, no ifs ands or butts about it, plays Shorthanded, Power Play and Even Strength.

For 69 points, 60 GP, 1.15 ppg, consistent producer, league scoring leader... I don't know about you, but for $5 million I don't think Robert Lang is overpaid at all. That's one guy I hope the Caps retain. He's earning his coin.

Shean Donovan with 17 G and 16 Ast and a +8 rating for 750K is a pretty good investment as well I think.
