First guy is obviously Brian Leetch, but I think you may be wrong with one of your things about the second one. No other defensemen that has played over 1000 games and is still playing has won the calder trophy to the best of my knowledge..

Edit: Well maybe the other guy your thinking of is Chelios? Thats the only person I could think of it might be.

that wasn't the point... the point is to look at performance, not names.

I'd take player B, btw.

I dont know who player B is I think Cheli has over 2000 PIMs he hada lot of them when he was young. Is player B inactive? Larry Robinson maybe. If it is I will take him. If it isnt I will reserve judgement untill I know who it is.

Just looked at the link, gotta go Denis Potvin as well.

B is the clear winner. Not much of a comparison.

Player b. Outstanding numbers. Obviously we will never see those numbers anymore (a d-man averaging almost a PPG).

Player B - Denis Potvin.

for my money Potvin is right there with Ray Bourque as the two best defenseman since Bobby Orr.

Player "B" by quite a margin.

Potvin is one of the top 5 or 6 D-men ever.

Leetch isn't.

Potvin meant a great deal to his team and their success.

Leetch didn't. OK, he was good the lucky Cup year, but since?

Player B for sure.

And knowing it's Potvin, he's probably the all-time greatest defensemen, behind Bobby Orr and Eddie Shore.

Player B - Denis Potvin.

Honestly I think Player C is closer (magnitude of dman that is) to Player B

Player C

935 GP, 163G, 525A, 688TP, 258 PIM, +258

3 Cups
1 Con Smythe
6 Time First Team Allstar
3 Norris Trophies
3 Time Norris Runner Up
Calder Runner Up
NHL All-Rookie Team

How does PIM make you tough.I know it's kind of offbase, but having a lot of PIM's makes you tough?Alexei Zhitnik has a lot of PIM's,so is he tough?Toughness should be considered by how tough you play, not by how much you slash, hook, hold, interfere etc.

And player B.It comes down to...

4 cups>>>>1 cup
