I think they wore it as a promo or somthing, They do that alot in the AHL to attract fans. I think I remember one team wearing rainbow jerseys and playing the spongbob theme song on family night
http://hfboards.com/showthread.php?t=257794 has more details. They were only worn for 1 game and then auctioned off. Sounds like they were designed after the suits Bob Uecker use to wear. So I think I would give them some leeway.
The only Oiler jersey that should be bashed is that silly 5-cog flying meteor oil drop.
When you think of the Oilers, people think of the ONE logo.
It's iconic to both the team and the sport.
I personally think there are only a few teams outside the original 6 that HAVE an iconic logo that represents their history. Oilers are one of a few. Devils, Flames, are the other 2 that come to mind.
As for the jersey's I'm glad we never completely changed the colour to black (like every other team seemed to). The florescent/neon-Ultramarine Blue was kind of dated by the 90's, but I hope the primary design, and colours of our jersey remains intact forever.
