Who do you consider some of the most useless players to have ever worn the Oil, or as LCS Hockey likes to say, the Bubbling Crude?

He and Ulanov were both effective players for the Oilers prior to the lockout which essentially killed their careers.

Jiri Dopita is definitely the first name that comes to mind in regards to a useless player. I felt bad for the guy but he just did not fit in at all.

Dopita only had 21 games, and with 6 points, that works out to around 30 over a full season. Not great but certainly not the worst.

Cross was almost a salvagable 3rd pairing D... before the rules changed and his lack of speed was exposed so brightly.

Kolanos only got 6 games, and although he got no points, it was barely a cup of coffee. His mention in the Oilers pantheon barely gets a footnote.

Conversely, we currently have a player in the org with 53 NHL games with no points.

Nedved on his second tour.
MAP
Bonsignore
Ninimaki
Brule

Thats all I can think of right now. I think both MAP and Brule will be HUGE disappointments to the Oilers.

In regards to Cross, I agree he is debatable. But I was whippin the damn horses on the Cross Haters Bandwagon.

My vote goes to Lupul

there have been a lot of bust prospects <rita, bonsignore, oliver etc> but Lupul was as useless as anyone one of those on ice as an oiler.

Maybe, but I doubt it.

Mact and Co. have always been able to come through with their young centerman(Maybe they can work magic with these two)

You do know that he was playing on the 2006-2007 Oilers right? That team was extremely terrible.

Hell, the guy still managed 30 Points on one of the worst teams in the league.

If he was playing for us now, you would be more than happy with his current play.

Yeah, because he was traded for Torres and bullied me in high school...
That must be it.

Francois Leroux.

Of his 247 pounds...there wasn't one ounce that had anything resembling hockey talent.

Lupul had Sykora and Smyth on the team... Gagner was given a much worse team.. instead of stars like Sykora and Smyth it was Nilsson and Penner. Add in the injuries to Moreau, Horcoff and Pisani and last years squad was much worse on paper then 2006\07.

Lupul was good in ANA and is great in Philly... but his was the first name that came to my mind when i read the title of this thread...

Anyone who lists a player who hasn't even seen a second of ice in an Oilers jersey is a complete idiot.

Absolute lunacy and obviously just looking for an avenue to push their rediculous hate of a player.

Or is the idiot the person who needs to see a specific player in an Oilers jersey to know he is bad? I don't need to see certain players on other NHL teams to know that putting on an Oilers jersey would not make them substantially better. Brule has not produced substantially in either of his two seasons with the Blue Jackets. And I personally don't think and Edmonton Oilers jersey is going to change that. I do not hate Brule. I just think it was a horrible deal, and we got hosed big time. Time will tell. But i am not an idiot. And you are not a genius.

Keep your thoughtfully ignorant comments to yourself.

Whenever this thread comes up the first name that pops in my head is Mike Aivizoff, for some reason he was everything I hated about the 90's.

Look, I'm not a fan of Brule's either. I went on record, challenging several posters, that he would never make 40 points in his career and that he doesn't have NHL offensive upside.

But the Torres deal wasn't value for value, it was a contract for a project and the player with the contract didn't have much value to begin with - so we didn't really get hosed.
