We'll be after every aging Swede by the end of the month. Next you know we'll be giving up Hank for Lidstrom.

but to the point of him being a detriment.... how many occasions last year did he have the puck was touched and lost the puck to the opposing team in the offensive zone. it was almost automatic. Every time he touched the puck and was touched he was on his ass, and the other team had 2 on 1's or 3-on2's going the other way. That is being a detriment. he has no puck possesion skills, very very limited passing skills, and frankly his shooting went to heck last year. he isn't overly fast, isn't great at defense, doesn't check hard enough adn when he does hit somebody he is usually the one on the ice.

he does have a ton of heart, and gives it his all which I commend him for but, realistically he doesn't add much to a team, and while he can score (w/ alot of help from teammates b/c he doesn't create jack on his own) how many scoring opportunities do we lose, and how many scoring opportunities do the opponents gain b/c of his inability to maintain any type of puck control. i am sure those #'s are not pretty.
Yeah, that's where you lost me. Prucha can flat out fly and is probably one of the faster Rangers.....

Prucha is a very good skater but he was never anywhere near a speed demon on skates.

Either he has to score or he has to go. Most people seem to understand this but some still envision him as being worthwhile when not scoring.

He is not a grinder despite what some might believe. Grinders punish the opponents, they don't serve as dummies that fly into the air when skated into. I have seen very few Rangers over the years that have as much trouble staying upright as Prucha.

For those old enough to remember, Prucha might be best served as a Bobby Rousseau type. Unfortunately, there may not be room for that type of player anymore.

Grinders don't punish opponents, being a grinder just means you have to work hard, you have to "grind out" the goals.

Prucha was never an especially gifted goal-scorer prior to entering the NHL, he was, in fact, a grinder.

I don't think a grinder is a player that gets tossed around like a rag doll. We clearly have a totally different definition of what constitutes a grinder.

I'd say he's exactly of average speed.

If Eklund is fooling you than you should know better. ITS EKLUND!!

I guarantee he isn't fooling anybody else here. Eklund sucks and is full of it.

Assuming a near equal cap cost, I'd rather have Shanahan. Both players can be an asset on the power play, and neither will provide much at even strength. But Shanny can kill penalties and he's a leader. If Shanny will play a 4th line role + PP and PK time, I'd welcome him back. If he wants to play more than that, he won't last the season.

Whichever player is on this team this year, I doubt either is on the team next year.

Hard to believe anyone could make a career out of being wrong 99% of the time like Eck has.
