Sorry to disappoint you, but though I joined these forums in 06, its been months and months since I've read anything here. I didn't know there was a long running joke about Montoya still being a Ranger. I'll be more careful in the future.

Well he did say the Oilers were gonna trade Pitkanen for Cole, but mind you everyone was saying that at the time.

He also called the Oilers trading for Pitkanen correctly. But that was only after first being wrong about them acquiring Stuart, Seabrook, Bouwmeester, Blake, Berard, Martin, Redden, Kalinin, Leetch, Brewer, Kubina, and McCabe. And probably a few other defenseman that I have forgotten since then.

Eklund is a ******.

When will people learn he throws teams like Edmonton and Toronto into the mix just to get hits? You don't see mass Coyote rumors over there do you?

The sooner people stop clicking.... Feed the beast.

Eklund's hurting for hits, and relies upon the most gullible fanbase to fill his pockets.

Presto-chango, Oilers rumour!

Yeah I would agree. Maybe not on the NYR and LA deal but I don't see how the Oilers could be making a major deal. They made 3 very good moves which saw 4 players leave. The Oilers have great chemistry and removing more guys would ruin it. Just my opinion.

As for Eklund this guy is living the good life. Does nothing but run a site and write BS day in and day out and probably makes good money for it.

To NYR: Pouliot, Roloson
To Edmonton: Drury

They'd still save a couple of million and we'd get a major league upgrade for 2nd-3rd line center.

Maybe Pouliot and Pisani???

Let's look at both deals and its effect on our roster...

Penner-Horcoff-Hemsky
Nilsson-Drury-Cole
Schremp-Gagner-Cogliano
Moreau-Brodziak-Pisani

or

Penner-Horcoff-Hemsky
Nilsson-Drury-Cole
Schremp-Gagner-Cogliano
Moreau-Brodziak-Stortini

Guys that I'd be willing to deal for Drury: Pouliot, Pisani, Staios, Roloson, Jacques, Potulny

Even for Eklund, this makes next to little sense. But should we expect to hear from a guy saying that he saw kids playing ice hockey on their backyard rinks while flying in to Edmonton to watch the Oil vs Canes in the Cup finals????

He was told by "sources" they were playing on ice rinks

I'm assuming Pouliot and Roloson for Drury is a joke.

The Rangers have one of the best goalies in the league so why would they want a 38 year old making over 3.5 million. It makes no sense.

It would take something like Cogliano, Pisani, Pouliot, Smid or Grebs for Drury.

Roloson will make his way to Ottowa for a draft pick. Gerber is no number 1, he needs to share the duties , like Roloson did in Minny.

put Schremp into the mix...he's always said the Rangers were his favorite team growing up and they always like to take gambles on long-shot prospects

But MacT is so great with young centers. When Reasoner was traded to Edm. he made him into Joe Sackic!

Sub in Schremp for Pouliot and that isn't a bad trade. Opens some roster spots as well.

I believe that he was a NYI fan as a kid.

They'd still shed salary which is what they're trying to accomplish in dealing Drury in the 1st place.

They won't be trading Staal, so good luck with that.

If they want Sundin they must shed salary, that makes Roli less likely, however if it means that they subtract Drury and gain Roli, Pouliot, and Sundin, sounds pretty good from a NYR viewpoint.

What did Richards fetch Tampa??? Drury is in that mold overpaid and underperforming his contract.

I would say trading Cogliano & Garon for Lundqvist; of course after moving Roloson for a pick/ECHL prospect

It benefits the Oilers by giving them a top 5 goaltender, while still not affecting the true heart of the team. We start Brule on the wing with Gagner and Nilson to start the year.

It hurts the Oilers by forcing them to rely on a single goalie and a unproven rookie backup. Also forces them to the cap.

I think the benefits out weigh the negatives but maybe we add Pisiani for Colton Orr or Nigel Dawes... Reducing the need to move Roloson until we are certain with Deslauriers.
