Future top 6?

Assuming Nash re-signs, and Brassard and Voracek deliver at the NHL level,
we could have something like this.

Nash- Brassard/Filatov -Voracek/Huselius
______- Filatov/Brassard -Huselius/Voracek

That's pretty exciting

Do not forget Majorov, Picard, Legein. Picard has full pre-season training and Majorov and Legein are great talents too.

Picard? Pineault is a better bet.

Picard and Legein won't be top six players in their careers.

Agreed on Picard. I'm not so quick to put limitations on Legein.

Unless/until Mayorov proves he's a top 6 NHL player, the blank is R.J. Umberger.

Picard was inured in 2006/2007 season. Than he had not 100% summenr training. And still he did not play a parto of next season for this injury. But before this season he has 100% summer training so we will see. I do not say Alex will have super season in Columbus but I think he is talented but his injury delayed him. We will see what the future shows .

As the future top 6 of the CBJ looks bright, with the likes of Brassard, Voracek, Filatov, and others. Too bad we cant say the future is now. Although 6 months from now we may be able to say that.

Yeah, too bad we couldn't draft this well when we began.
Wonder where we would be if we drafted better in the past...

Its not likely, but I hate to rule guys out. Andy McDonald was 28 before sticking as a top 6 forward, and putting up back to back 80'ish point seasons. The skill set is different I know, but you never know when a guy's gonna find his game and jump to the next level.

I know Legein COULD. I just rather have the depth that he has to be a great 3rd liner for us instead of taking a scoring role.

Picard... I just don't see him putting it all together. I could be wrong, but I doubt it on this one. Give it a few years and we'll know, I guess.

You're right, we absolutely can't count on any of these kids to fill critical top 6 slots. Whats crazy about this team is how little we relied on rookies in some of our earlier seasons, but the last 2 seasons we've been suddenly counting on these 18 year olds to provide offense.

Exciting? Not yet. We're a ways away from playing something that looks like that. That's a lot of way too young and as someone mentioned (I think I'm reading what they typed correctly), likely not good if you want to keep the puck out of your own net.

And no mention of R.J. What is this? 3 or 4 years from now?

Thats pretty good lookin. I'd say once Chimmer and Juice are gone some those would be filled by like Pineault and Sestito and Jake Hansen. We just need to draft D men at that point.

Well I'll be the voice dissention and say that Umberger is going to rise to the occasion and be a fixture on the top line for the duration of his years in Columbus. That doesn't mean he'll always be a center(he played alot of wing in Philly), but I think he's going to be a special player for us and Nash/Umberger is going to be like Lindros/Leclair were in the 90's.

I know you will hate to have a concurring partner Nordique but I'm totally on board with this one... I think Umberger's got serious 'awesome' potential. Can't wait to see the boys get together on the top line next month!

Isn't there any chances that Filatov plays wing in the NHL?

It's a possibility, but I read somewhere that Filatov told Howson he wanted to play center. Who knows how it'll happen.
