Colorado/NY Rangers/Chicago

To Colorado: Nikolai Khabibulin, Cam Barker

VS

To NY Rangers: Tyler Arnason, Dan Bertram

VS

To Chicago: Chris Drury, Marek Svatos

Colorado POV: They need a #1 goalie.. Khabibulin is the solution.. and they probably need a d-men.. Cam Barker could be a nice add plus he's very young.

NY Rangers: They add in Arnason a cheap 2nd line center plus a NHL ready prospect in Bertram btw he's better than Jessiman.

Chicago: Svatos is enigmatic but fresh air can be the solution.. playing with Havlat can push him to the limit. Adding Drury on the young Hawks team can be benefict.

NY Rangers lost a little bit in the trade proposal..but Dubinsky is waiting for the second line spot (center) at the wing. He show all the talent last year!

Why would the Rangers want to do that unless they needed to dump salary?

I think value-wise it's decent, however Drury for Arnason and Bertam is a little lopsided.

Colorado, I think, is relying on Svatos too much to regain his 40 goal potential because Hejduk is slipping and besides that Stastny and Wolski really won't amount for too many goes. Svatos is the future sniper there.

why would colorado want a third goalie? If they planned on trading for a goalie all along then they would have NEVER signed Raycroft. Not to mention Arnason has VERY little trade value.

Doesn't help the old cap issues, now does it.

The Avs aren't going to trade Svatos for a goalie, especially the team doesn't have that many young sniping wingers.

The Rangers would never do this..

And IF they traded Drury for Arnason+, they wouldnt use Arnason on the 2nd line.. They have Gomez and Dubinsky..

This deal doesn't make sense for any of the teams. At least, I can't see anyone being too motivated but whatever.

As someone who has watched Bertram play every game for the past 3 years, not only is he absolutely not NHL ready, but to say he's better than Jessiman is also very questionable.

Oh, and epic fail from a NYR pov.

Colorado is sticking with Budaj/Raycroft till at least the trade deadline. If they do perform well, god forbid, they won't be traded and if they do play bad I think they'll be traded - but for sure the Avs are going with Budaj/Raycroft till the deadline.

NYR do need to dump cap since they have a lot of FA next offseason but they aren't going trade Drury for peanuts. Heck, Vancouver needs a center and they'd probably offer draft picks/prospect/ and other goodness. Other teams will also offer more.

To me - this is a good trade if by the deadline Raycroft/Budaj suck worse than they are projected, Arnason plays like a 55 point player, and Drury is having another awful season. Either way, this won't happen.

The Rangers get the big ol' fist on this one.

Superstar names going everywhere except the big apple.

Although I think the Av's would be happy to unload Svatos.

Avs only move Svatos for a good goalie. Not Khabibulin.

Not really, he was a pretty big player last year when the top 3 [Smyth, Sakic, and Stastny] were injured and can still score 25+ goals and hasn't averaged more than 14 [literally, his career high was 13:45 in his rookie season] time on ice. Look for him to get top 6 minutes next year and he is a part of our "future".

No, they don't "probably need a d-men". The Avs have a solid 7. And as others have noted, Colorado is going with Budaj/Raycroft. Furthermore, Arnason has no value at this point, and he certainly wouldn't be the Rangers' #2 center.

Huh? He's a centerpiece of their offense, a proven goalscorer with potential, to boot. Sure, he's had some injuries, but the Avs are pleased with him and his humble contract.

This deal only benefits one team, and that's Chicago.
