Alfie is one of the most underated players in the NHL. He is pure elite, like Zetterberg and Datsyuk are...

Spezza is gonna be Ottawa's best player in 2-3 years, when Alfie approach retirement... But it will be very close with Heatley who is an elite scoring forward as well

yep - bandwith + middle finger (scrolling) conservation at its best.

Alfie is getting too much love here. Since 06-07, he's been getting far too much love on these boards. Heatley is the clear winner to me.

Why? Alfredsson, last year, put up better numbers than Heatley plus his contributions to the defensive side. Even if, Heatley puts up 10 points more than him, I'll still take Alfredsson's defense and work ethic, but that's just me.

Daniel Alfredsson, for sure. Heatley and Spezza are just a little behind and will be better than him in their primes. Right now, he has an incredible combination of heart and talent. He's a stalwart defensively and has a very very good shot.

Alfredsson gets an easy first
Spezza
Heatley

Spezza is a better player than Heatley, he is faster, and feeds Heatley pucks all day getting no attention while Heatley is hogging the spotlight

Heatley is arguably a better player without him though.

Yea, look at the Nash, Getslaf, Heatley line. Heatley can survive as a superstar with Spezza and Alfie

Why are Gerber and Redden even in this poll?

There really shouldn't be more than 3 options.

I honestly cant believe some of the posts I have seen in this thread..

Alfredsson is the worst player out of him, Spezza and Heatley? seriously???

Alfredsson is the heart and soul of the Ottawa Senators.. He is ELITE in both ends off the ice, a great leader and a very hard working guy...

IMO he is easily the best player on the Sens..

I'd rank them like this..

Alfredsson

Spezza
Heatley

And thats no knock on Spezza and Heatley. Alfredsson is just that good.. He is a notch above the other guys..

Ignorance is bliss.

And we've seen much of it in this thread.

I don't even bother to argue with these types anymore.

Great question. I had to go with Alfie because he does it in every situation, but it's real close. Spezza would be a 2nd and Heater would be a close 3rd.

Exactly. When Heatley was out last year, Spezza looked completely lost. Heater on the other hand has had to deal with several Spezza injuries in past seasons and was still a lock for 50-50. None of this matters though because right now Alfredsson is better than both of them.

I wouldn't go far to say 'completely lost'. He was just off PPG pace playing with much less support.

Alfredsson...he's the straw that stirs the drink for Ottawa. Without him, Spezza and Heatley **** the bed.

He signed with them. He hasn't played for them yet
And there's always a chance for him to be traded back

Really? Heatley did that in the IIHF tournament? I never knew that.
