I am going to be honest and it is going to seem extremely strange for everyone, but I actually can't see Bourque in a Bruins jersey. This is because when I first became a hockey fan was long after he retired and the first time I saw him was in an Avalanche jersey lifting the cup. It was a while until I saw a picture of him in a Bruins jersey and it just looked weird for me.

I don't find that strange at all. I'm similar in that I mostly associate a guy with the team he was on when I first saw him or the team he was on in a video game.

I associate Roenick with Phoenix, Belfour with Dallas, Ulf with the Rangers, Paul Coffey with Detroit/Philadelphia, etc.

Interesting. The only one I cant get my head around is Schultz in the Penguins jersey, and I grew up watching Keon as a Leaf virtually from his 1st year as a Rookie. He was that kind of player though. You watched him, the jersey, the identity with the team lost as Ballard had all but decimated the franchise between 68 & 74 when he finally left, low-end supporting cast, the blue & white, the brand itself sullied. Keon the last of the greats... Sittler, ya, a little "odd", Linseman faceless under the helmet, the era of wearing them, mandated as it was, sort of broad brushing everyone, inter-changeable. Generic.

It's not like I just forgot Bertuzzi played for the flames (like I did Tkachuk for the Thrashers and Fedorov for the Caps, etc) but I feel like I really didn't know that ever happened. Haha.

How is that strange? He was drafted by the Thrashers and put in almost 200 games with them.

The Flames had a few weird ones during the Sutter era.

Owen Nolan as a Flame?

Brad Stuart?

Tony Amonte?

Darren McCarty?

All seem to fall into the, 'wait. . . did that really happen. . .?' category, IMO.

Sundin in a Canucks jersey is downright offensive.

Jesus, I need warnings before people go and bump 5 year old threads. I got about 50 posts into this thing before i realized how old it was. I was terribly confused that Kolzig had made a comeback to play in Tampa Bay.

It was strange to see Jacques in an Edmonton Oilers uniform (WHA).

PS: I don't know how to post photos...

Actually in this case good job you dont know how. I dont like seeing Plante in anything but a Habs jersey and Im a Leafs fan. Even that was unnatural. Really any of the mainstays from the 06 era post 67 Expansion, the Stars, Hearts & Souls of an 06 team changing colours, unsettling somewhat. Post Expansion & to date, the same phenomena with cornerstones like Bourque. Happy he won a Cup sure, but still...

am i the only one who thinks bourque in an avs jersey just looks wrong?

it seems like the newer generation tends to associate him with the avs despite the fact that he only played 1 1/2 seasons there compared to 21 seasons with boston
