The Kings had some doozies over the years.

Terry Sawchuk:

(and hey, there's Bob Pulford!)

Harry Howell:

And speaking of Harry Howell, Harry Howell the California Golden Seal!

Will you settle for Andy Bathgate in a Vancouver Canucks uni?

(image won't link, sorry...)

Or, if the WHA is preferable, how about Norm Ullman in an Oilers uniform?

To add to the ones already mentioned:

Rick Martin, who only appeared in 4 games for the Kings. Of course, given the Kings' incompetence back then, they traded a 1st round pick that turned into Tom Barrasso for 4 games of Rick Martin.

Steve Shutt played his last season in the NHL with the Kings.

And Ralph Backstrom, who supposedly Montreal traded to LA in order to ensure that the Seals would finish in last place, giving the Habs the 1st overall pick in the '71 Entry Draft.

I don't know what's up with the socks. The photo was a press shot that was also used for O-Pee-Chee cards. E.g. a Glen Sather card:

Same red and white socks.

Ya, thats weird. Heres the official WHA Uniform website. You can look at every years uniforms and I cant find that
combination. Maybe those pictures were taken at an All Star Game or perhaps Team Canada type event or camp?

I thought of that, but then what the hell would Glen Sather be doing there?

... ya, same thought crossed my mind. 76/77 was Sathers last, taking over as a Playing Coach late in the season. 2nd Rate Player, First Rate Coach, so that theory about the red and white socks being All Star or whatever doesnt fly. Maybe Nelson Skalbania got a shipment of em like wholesale. Figured he'd save a few bucks huh? No matter they dont match.

Not sure is Skalbania was still in the picture at that point. That would have been about the time he sold to Pocklington and bought the Racers.

Either way neither of them had many shekels to spare. Wouldn't surprise me if the photos were taken in the pre-season; maybe instead of wearing different sweaters they wore different socks to identify the squads taking part in scrimmages.

Found myself reading the Wikipedia article on Jacques Plante, and noticed it said he briefly served as an assistant coach to Bert Olmstead with the Oakland Seals in their first training camp, and played an exhibition game.

Edit:

Originally had what appeared to be a hockey card of Plante in Seals gear, but it appears to have been a Gary Smith card with Plante's head photoshopped on.

I saw a picture of Eberle wearing a Flames Jersey because he grew up a Flames fan. I'll try to find it.

... I love the jersey, but Man, what were they thinking with those gold pants?! Had they gone deep purple, woulda made it.... and if Im not mistaken I think it was just one year that they did that. Still prefer the Crown & those colors to what theyve subsequently used over the years.

Well they had that whole crown thing going up until Gretzky and then they changed the uni...

My mom has one of the funniest conspiracies about that (she jokes).. She thinks that the only reason why the Kings changed their jerseys was because Gretzky refused to go to LA/accept the trade if they didn't change their jerseys.

I actually like the retro jerseys by the way ...

My mom seriously said that numerous times in response to the Kings Jerseys...
