Regehr is a great pick and I was thinking of taking him eventually.

In today's headlines...

Green, Hextall join the Indians
By Dickie Dunn
Humboldt Journal

The Humboldt Indians added a rock-solid defensive defenceman Wednesday night and a gritty second line winger Thursday morning in the Minor League Draft.
Defenceman Rick Green will be a stabilizing force, said team GM God Bless Canada, and left winger Dennis Hextall will be counted on for secondary scoring.
Green was targeted from the start as being a top-notch defensive defenceman for the Indians.
"He was a bit of a scorer earlier in his career with Washington, but we're counting on him to be our rock in our own end," said GBC. "Any offence he gives us will be a bonus."
Green was one of the top defensive defencemen in the league in the 1980s. He won a Stanley Cup with Montreal in 1986, and was part of the NHL all-star team that competed in Rendez-Vous 87 against the USSR.
GBC said Green will be counted on for shot blocking and to clear the front of the net.
"The nice thing about him is he's so steady. He's smart and he plays a clean game. That's key. He won't put us down 5-on-3."
Green will sport an "A" as an alternate captain. There's a chance he could be named the squad's captain, GBC said.
Hextall is expected to bring skill and toughness to the line-up. He topped 50 assists three times, impressive for a player at this level.
"It's partly a needs pick," said GBC. "We were looking at a few players, but there's a shortage of good scoring left wingers right now, and we didn't want to be holding the bag with a liability at left wing for our second line."
He was also known for his toughness. He had nearly 1,400 penalty minutes in his career.
Hextall will be counted on to be a playmaker for the second line, and to open up room for his linemates.
"There aren't many left wingers in this thing with three 50-assist seasons in the NHL," said GBC. "I don't think any of them topped 150 penalty minutes four times."
Hextall will play on the second line, GBC said, despite the temptation to put him on the first line to add some more toughness to that unit.
"As of right now, Tardif is on the first line and Hextall's on the second. But that could change."

GBC said the team is ready for the rapid fire selections, which begin in Round 9. That's expected to come tonight or tomorrow.

Was looking at him for my last pick

We're going to add our final outside the region player in D Dan Boyle. He can do it all. A cup winner, a puck mover, dynamite on the PP and can handle himself well in his own zone.

Nice pick with Paladiev. I was hoping to get him later.

I'm not asking to be skipped, just for clarification. And I'm back from the meeting.

At 4:13 when Boyle was taken that officially started chaos' clock. If chaos gets in here to pick, I will be here to make mine. If the worst happens and he doesn't show, I will have just enough time to make a pick before I leave to my playoff game.

Actually, his clock would start once mullin's time expired. At least that's the way we've done it in the past.

EDIT: It's a moot point since it looks like he's here now.

Belleville Bulls select...

LW - Don Lever

Quote:
Left-winger Don Lever was strong at both ends of the ice during a career that lasted 1,020 games. He was useful killing penalties and working the power play and registered nine 20-goal seasons.

The talented forward hit the 20-goal mark six times in Vancouver and played for Canada at the 1978 World Championships. His best season was 1974-75 when he scored 38 goals playing on a line with Andre Boudrias and Dennis Ververgaert. That year, he was a key factor behind the club's first place finish in the Smythe Division with 86 points. The likeable veteran was also the club's captain from 1977 to 1979.

After years of missing the playoffs or accomplishing very little when they qualified, the Canucks started making changes in 1979-80. The experienced forward was sent to the Atlanta Flames in the deal that also involved Ivan Boldirev and Darcy Rota. Lever was on hand when the Flames transferred to Calgary and reached the semi-finals in 1981. The next year, he was traded to the Colorado Rockies and went through a second franchise shift when the club became the New Jersey Devils in 1982-83. Before leaving Denver, he made his only appearance at the NHL All-Star Game as the Rockie's representative. Lever was a solid two-way worker on the weak Devils for three years and served briefly as team captain beginning in 1982. He later joined the Buffalo Sabres as a part-time player before retiring in 1987.

- Legends of Hockey
Quote:
He was recognized for both his penalty killing and powerplay abilities. Lever played 1020 career NHL games, scoring 313 goals and 367 assists for 680 points.

Nice choice with Lever, he was someone we were looking at for a 'glue guy' type player.

Sorry for the angry outburst lol. I had both bios written and everything, something I haven't found time for for any of other players, so yeah.

The Vancouver Giants select C Andre Lacroix and D Joe Jerwa.

Don't want to hold this up, and these two next on the shortlist I made, but I'd love some feedback on Jerwa escpecially.

We select Bob Murray. Hopefully we will have better luck this time, counting on him to be a #3 D-man in the MLD instead of a #1.

More to come later.

Someone please PM chaos. I have to run immediately.
