For the Huntington folks, there's a nice pond off of park avenue, behind where the Rob Roy Deli is that gets some good games. I forget the actual road its on, but its right across from a church, fairly close to the train station.

Hey guys, not to be a downer and forgive me for stating the obvious, but PLEASE bring a first aid kit and some clean towels. My friends and I would play pond hockey out in suffolk for years, and without fail every year someone would get a nip from a skate, or a puck in the face. Damn nice to have some clean wraps in the car until you can get some help. Just sayin...be safe!

Someone snow-blow's it sometimes so it's playable after a snow shower. It's also only like 3 ft deep so it's safe and freezes over real quick.

So yea, if anyone is interested maybe we can get six guys or so together and get some pick-up going... passing pucks to myself gets tiresome

If you are coming down park ave from Jericho turnpike there is a shopping center after the train tracks. The Deli's in there. If you make the right after the shopping center you will go into a residential area there will be a church on the right, make the right there and that's where the pond is.

One more for pond hockey?

Hey. Just came across your thread, and if you and a few others want to get together for some hockey, I'd like to get in on it. I've been playing for a few years (I am 24 now), and I'm getting better, so some ice time would definitely be good for me. I love getting out there and playing, whether its a game, or if its just shooting around and practicing. I'm coming from Huntington, so its not too long of a ride. Anyway, send me a message with any info and hopefully I will see you out there.

Thanks much,

Brandon

i meant to send a message to everyone and forgot! sorry.

i'm actually going to heading up to the pond i mentioned in this thread today (a lot of times i just go and skate by myself, sometimes pass it around with someone if they're there too).

i'll be there around 2ish if anyone is interested. not sure if the ice will be ok, seems a bit warm today. i'll def send out a message to all you guys tonight or tomorrow so we can try to actually organize a get together.

Does that LIU campus have a big pond when you first drive up? I played pond hokcey on a LIU campus in the 1980's, wondering if its still around.

Mercer county park in Central jersey was my other pond hockey 'rink' growing up, if you go to the back of the lake on the West Windsor side you can find huge open ice(in my day).

We're definitely going to be playing on the pond in Huntington all this week. We were on it the last couple of days and it's fine.

It's behind Rob Roy Deli, on Park Ave.

Hey, I was wondering if there's any public transportation close to the pond?

I'm out in Queens (Jamaica) and don't have a car. I'll be back in NY next weekend and would love to come out.
