Lil' help....

OK... I just bought a RBK 5K shaft and I'm having trouble fitting blades into it. Am I going to be stuck having to buy a blade made from RBK? I really hate their patterns!!!

5K should take standard blades from all companies, although I know from experience that it doesn't work out that way. I'm assuming you're having trouble getting the blade tenon all the way in? Aside from making sure you're heating the shaft enough to melt the glue as you're inserting it, I'd suggest taking it to a local shop to make sure.

Out of curiosity, which blade/curve are you trying to use? The RBK (soon to be Reebok) curve selection is pretty similar to everybody else's.

Thanks. I'm using old Lemieux pattern blades from CCM. The problem is that once they're in they kind of click around and come out. I'm guessing that they're tapered.

Do you know of any blades with these specs? mid heel, 3/8" curve, 5.5 or 6 lie, slightly open face

Also whats the durability with that stick. It feels really flimsy stickhandling a puck over some tile.

That's a good list, now all they need is an explanation for what each one means and what the options do.

I'm going to be going this route as well though, shaft+blade, so I'll be worrying about the same thing. Well not really worrying, I'm taking it straight to the shop. I made a great find yesterday at Sportscheck that's left me pretty damned happy. Not one of those expensive composite sticks for half off, but rather finding half a dozen KOHO Jagr stick blades sitting on a rack. Having just started hockey I've gone through a couple sticks trying to find the right blade, before settling on my beat up KOHO Torpedo I used to play floor hockey with. Except they're no longer being made so when that one breaks it would've been back to the drawing board, but now I got a long term supply and won't need to spend hundreds of $$$ on sticks

Which model blade are you using? A tapered blade won't fit in the 5K shaft.

And just to make sure we're on the same page, you're using this shaft?

Yup thats it. Without question it wasn't fitting because of the tapered blade.

I ended up buying a Kovalev blade. Its a little bit more of a heal curve than I wanted (I was looking for more of a mid-heal) but other than that I like it.
