I would like to see Carlson make the team too. Trade Schultz, let Jurcina walk, resign Morrisonn.

Mo-Green
Poti-Carlson
Alzner-Pothier
Erskine

It's young, but talented and better then what we've got now.

The play of pothier, while excellent from where he's come from, may provide an excellent trading opportinity. Its all about salary in that one. Could see ottawa being a player since they need transition dmen, campoli aquisition notwithstanding.

Oh, go bears!

Not surprised on bit about carlson. I'm one of those who can see his play potentially making him above karl.

As expected, both Kronwall & Carlson in the lineup.

Bears up 2-0 through one. Kronwall immediately makes his presence felt with a PPG and Bourque scores a crafty bank-shot goal on Curry. WBS easily the more rusty team so far. Hershey gets a big late second period PPG on a Gordon deflection to re-take a 3-2 lead. They let up for a bit and WBS evened it up in pretty quick fashion.

5-3 Bears late in the third.

Bears win 5-3. Carlson a +1 in what seemed like a pretty seamless transition to the pro game. Got to like the distribution in scoring.

SC won last night to take a 2-1 series lead. Morin missed that one and isn't playing tonight either.

Is there some old-timers Pens-Caps game going on somewhere so we can keep this going? I don't want this day to end.

SC lost in 2OT after Kashirsky took a delay of game penalty. Series tied at 2 apiece.

Carlson!

More on the Bears tonight after their second Round 2 game against WB/S. But I cannot resist a premature capulation about Carlson.

Watching Alzer's first several games in the organ-eye-zation, I thought he was the most skilled, balanced, expectation surpassing two-way Dman ever drafted by the Caps (Scott Stevens has an asterisk, details later). Seeing Carlson last night on the Hershey webcast, he is right up there with KA. Very impressive game. Big guy. He likes to hit and finish checks. Quick. Fine puck decisions. Excellent pairing with Deano.

From OFB: http://onfrozenblog.com/2009/05/03/a...-the-farm.html

Eager to see him again, today I hope.

fun game last night; a bit nerveracking when they let WBS back in the game as WBS can score in bunches against the Bears once they tally. Bears got sloppy and almost paid for it. Too bad Osala didn't score on the penalty shot. After Gordon was in the penalty box for a WBS PP, his look said he was going to make a difference in this game, and he did along with his line. He also threw a few solid checks which looked clean (including one that called for the penalty.) Of note, Perreault was flying around and making plays and drew a penalty.

The D: the vets were the ones making mistakes, Sloan and Arsene with several turnovers in their own zone, plus a couple of miscues from Helmer. The positive of Arsene being paired with Carlson, is Arsene has always been a very good communicator when on the ice with a young D partner and that was evident again last night, but I assume Arsene will be scratched tonight and Amadio will dress.

Carlson had a solid debut. He looked a bit winded at the end of shifts, with the adjustment to the pro game at playoff time, but steady with the puck, did not panic when pressured and used his strong skating effectively. And yes, he threw some checks and shoved guys away from Neuvirth. He got some second unit PP time, too.

Speaking of checks, welcome back Staffan Kronwall! Nice goal, too. Alzner made several key shotblocks early in the game.

Game 2 tonight at 5pm.

Jurcina has played really well in the postseason so far....

I'd keep him over morrisonn at this point.

Carlson and Alzner look good and are close, but I'm not sure they're ready yet.

Schultz needs to go... All that size and he plays soft.

Alzner & Sloan ill, enter Amadio & McNeill.

Some quotes from Carlson after his first pro game.

Today's lineup:

Giroux - Aucoin - Mink
Bouchard - Wilson - Gordon
Bourque - Perreault - Beagle
Osala - Joudrey - Pinizzotto

Arsene - Kronwall
Carlson - Amadio
Helmer - McNeill

Neuvirth

Given the cap hits that's not an outrageous decision. The best, maybe not, but certainly defensible.

The Carlson goal was a beauty as he was the joined the rush on a Bourque/Perreault 2 on 1. Bourque sent the puck to the net, the other midget tipped it on goal and Carlson pick up the rebound on his backhand for a goal. He really picked his sport there...good awareness to jump up on the play.

The game is getting pretty chippy now with the 3-0 Bear lead.

This is one of the worst officiated AHL games I've seen this season. Ranks up there with a Chris Chimaga special.

Bears PK is up to the test so far.

Bears win 3-1 and take the 2-0 series lead; shutout ends late in the third, which also resulted in Carlson having the GWG; the PK comes through again, but so did WBS' PK link

also, the Stingrays won with a 4-3 comeback to take the 3-2 series lead link; Kashirsky with the GWG on the PP late in the third due to a too many men penalty; Morin still out with injury; Pokulok returned earlier this weekend, had an assist today; Godfrey still out; Lacroix, Dubuc and Scherer with the other goals; being able to use both goalies for the 3 in 3 helped the Stingrays

Addn: schedule

Bears play G3 at WBS Wed. night

Stingrays play at Florida Tuesday night (and again Wed. night if game 7 is necessary)

So Carlson might be a Green with a bit more defense? or what?

I'm going with Kevin Hatcher-esque.
