from what I can tell (looking at stats), he was playing well in the preseason....have to wonder what would have happened had he not come over for rookie camp
Bengt was one of least violent players in the NHL during his time. Now half our team is less violent than he ever was. But its cool that Anton plays a little rougher game. He racked up decent PIMs per game in 07-08. Our team could use a strong two way center pushing the vets here. With Nylander and Feds getting older, we'll need him soon enough. I saw a lot of his dad. The Potvin knee, the 5 goals all those slick passes and that big Jofa.
No. Last season he had a junior-contract with Frölunda. After last season they wanted to sign him to a contract with the senior team, but Anton rather wanted to play quality minutes with his hometown-team in the 2nd league than a few minutes a game in the SEL. He has a contract with Bofors and no other team holds his rights. In order to play in the SEL he would have to be loaned out from Bofors.
Wrong. He still has one year remaining on his contract with Frölunda, but he didn't want to play for their Allsvenskan affiliate Borås HC, he rather play for his hometown team Bofors. So they let him sign a contract with Bofors and let him finish his contract the following season (ie 2009-10). Since Bofors season ended and Frölunda still holds his rights they used the new clause that allows teams to take home players after the trade deadline.
And an update from the J20 playoffs. Frölunda was eliminated in the quarter final by HV71. Anton centered the 2nd line with Simon Hjalmarsson and Tim Bränholm.
His playoff stats:
5gp, 3g, 4a, 7pts(4th best on team), 48FO%, 21SOG%, 1SHG(tied for first on team), +8(2nd on team and overall so far)
We have a sticky only used for Gus and he signs and it doesn't get a post I still vote to consolidate our prospect threads and not split them based on geography.
