Basically saying there is a rumor going around that Mats Sundin would do a stop in Montreal before heading to Toronto for the charity game. A hotel room in Montreal was supposedly reserved for him.

Interesting to see how it will turn out!
Someone said last week in HockeyBuzz's comments that there was a room reserved for Sundin tomorrow night at the Queen Elizabeth (I might have the Hotel wrong)

Yes there is a room for Sundin

Spoke with my brother last night who told me that he met at a social event one General Manager (BG), one head coach (GC), on assistant coach (DJ) and a former general manager (RH) and they have a reserve room for Mats Sundin towards the end of the week. My brother used to works for the Montreal Canadiens. I am not saying that Sundin is on its way, all I am confirming is that there is a room for ready for him. I will check my contact in the hotel business and try to find out where.

Yeah but does Francois Gagnon bite on these internet rumors.

He's often been very sound in his reporting, rarely just putting stuff out there without researching it himself.

Got to love how we go from zero hope and beginning to despise Sundin to dreaming of him in a Canadiens uniform, all in a matter of seconds.

If Sundin says he'd go with his agent's recommendation on the team that's very good news for us...Barry likes us and Vancouver and has said we're the best fit from a hockey perspective.

Has Sundin been quoted as saying that he's gonna go with his agents recomendation?

Because if so yes I agree, Barry has been high on Montreal since day 1.

Habs president expects Sundin to decide soon
Pat Hickey, Canwest News Service
Published: Tuesday, September 02, 2008

LAVAL-SUR-LE-LAC, Que. - Montreal Canadiens president Pierre Boivin can see an end in sight for the Mats Sundin drama.

"He's playing in a charity game (Friday) in Toronto and I can't see him facing the media there without some decision on his future," Boivin said before teeing off in the Canadiens' annual golf tournament.

Never mind that, what about Sundin not wanting to be a rental player and wanting to "help" a team win a cup.

Coming back mid-season kind of flies in the face of that.

BG should just quietly drop out of the race and watch some other team dismantle themselves for Sundin or let him join a non-contender and be inconsequential.

Either way it's time for teams to start making up Sundin's mind for him, since it doesn't look like he can do it himself.

Not training/skating etc, all summer (for an NHL season) would have me concerned about him getting injured. I don't think he can just "turn it on" when he wants to.

Just another thing to think about, if Mats actually does decide to play this year.
I can just see a nagging groin injury all year

I would take Sundin at the first of the season in a heartbeat, even if he's not quite in game shape you could work him in slowly.

With that being said, I would never take Sundin halfway through the season - no matter how much we need him. You completely and utterly screw team's chemistries when you do that - players wonder if they are losing their spots, the media circus that would ensue, no one is concentrating on playing their game. It's shown that it didn't work before, so if he decides to come back midway through the season - let him go somewhere else.

I don't even agree with the fact that players are allowed to do it. I think it cheapens the sport somehow - I don't really know why, but that's how I feel. Every player should have to start the season when everyone else does.

Out of all his choices, Sundin chose to sign with PokerStars :
