Rookie tournament in Camrose

Have you guys traditionally played guys that had a little NHL experience or mostly guys from juniors and relative newcomers to the AHL???

Usually the Oilers would have 1st year pro's, juniors, Euro's, and camp invites IIRC.

It'd be cool to see how they'll stack up and what route each team might go since they are playing their rivals rookies. .

I would assume it would be made of of guys that went to rookie camp... Boyd, Backlund, Ryder, Chucko, Negrin & Pelech... etc

^^^That just makes sense. Excluding the NCAA players of course.

I just can wait to see our rookies in action. Is anyone from here going?

Got my tickets yesterday when they went on sale. Will be attending both games. Looking forward to it.

As for the roster I have no idea. I'd assume most of the guys from the development camp will be playing in the games.

Same here, don't know what I am going to do with the Nuck/Oiler game tickets?

Hey, I'd go to the game if I didn't have to be back in Calgary for work on Tuesday. Oh and I never boo, it just so tacky!

Really, you think that they'd play Boyd even though he's gotten more than a cup of coffee in the NHL??? I'd love to see a game where we'd have our young guys play your young guys (minus Phaneuf, Cogs, Gagner, Nilsson, Gilbert, etc.)

Here's a couple of possibilities...

Including NHLers that haven't proven to be full time guys or could see time in the AHL this year...

Potulny-Schremp-Brule
Trukhno-O'Marra-Eberle
Jacques-Lerg-McDonald
Reddox-Spurgeon-Goulet

Peckham-Hrabal
Chorney-Wild
Young-Bisaillon

Deslauriers
Dubnyk

Brule maybe over the top because of how many games he has played in the NHL, but he may not see any NHL action this year for the Oilers.

Or we don't have more experienced guys like Potulny, Jacques, Schremp, Deslauriers, Young, and Brule...

Trukhno-Lerg-Eberle
Cornet-O'Marra-Goulet
Spurgeon-Sestito-McDonald
Paukovich-Kytnar-Rohlfs

Peckham-Hrabal
Chorney-Wild
Bendfeld-Bisaillon

Dubnyk
Pitton

BTW-Did Ryder come out of retirement??? I saw someone mention him in an earlier post. That would be great for you guys because it's always sad to see someone's career cut short for whatever reason.

Ryder will be back this season and he already attended the Flames' development camp.

I came across this today, from Rob Kerr's blog:

Quote:
If you are wondering who might be suiting up for the Flames at the rookie tournament in Camrose in 10 days, here are the guidelines for the players who can play. No more then 30 NHL games and no more then 100 AHL games will make you eligible to play in the tournament. Expect to see a lot of Backlund, Irving and Negrin in this event.
http://blog.rogersbroadcasting.com/r...houghts-sept4/

So far it's the only info I've seen regarding this tournament.

the rules for the summer development camp is different than for rookie training camp; while Boyd was allowed to the dev. camp (since he is still on his entry level contract), he has played to many NHL games to join the rookies at training camp; he will report a week later with the vets

pretty much eliminates anyone with 2 years of pro experience

so best guess at the roster based on limited info (assuming college players don't attend)

Armstrong
Carpentier
Backlund
Sutter
Ryder
Cracknell
Seitsonen
Bouma
Grantham
Nemisz
Wahl
Watt

Pelech
Cole
Baldwin
Jonsson
Aulie
Brodie
Deilert
Negrin
Wilson

Irving
Keetley
Lalande

Who is Jonathan Tremblay? Never heard of this guy before. Also nice to see Per Jonsson on the roster. Wasn't at the development camp and I know the flames staff like him.

Really excited to see some hockey. Sunday can't come soon enough.

For those of you not aware (or can't make it to the games), you can watch this tournament live by logging on to calgaryflames.com to watch the games online.

Cool. Nice of the flames to step up and put the games online. I'll be in Camrose, but I'm sure many people will by logging on to watch it.
