We need Schnider now.

What does Anaheim want?

It's got to be Montreal.

They have gotten sick of waiting for Sundin, and have decided to shore up their defence, since defence wins championships.

Also, a Habs-Sens trade would never happen, and Gainey would know that signing A.M. for right under the $5.3M line (between giving up 1 or 2 1sts) would really squeeze their divisional rival (and only real competition for 1st in the division) for the foreseeable future.

The Habs want to go for it this season, and if need be, they can try to woo Selanne to the team.

come on, Alfy runs the point. everyone knows it.
just run 5 forwards and laugh it up.

TB might be missing a crucial pick for the offer sheet during the Malone deal to get his rights.

I'm betting canucks. That GM is just itching for any action to make him stand out.

Or exist.

Why Vancouver though? We already have decent enough defensive depth. I think Gillis is more concerned with scoring at this point and time.

Rejoicing in other teams' misfortune isnt cool, but this could be potentially good for Anaheim. If more team's are calling Burke in need of an impact dman that low price may very well be going up.

I'll summerize Sens fans feelings on the subject. Or, the majority of sens fans I've found at least

"Any team who'd pay that much for Meszaros, is a team I'd gladly take a 1st rounder from."

LOL

He sucked BAD last season and it's a HUGE gamble to assume he'd rebound, Having said that, a genuine top-4 defenseman for under 4.0 million is getting to be a rare thing, and he's under 25 to boot.

It would however take every cent of that 5.2 or whatever to get Murray not to match so it's a huge gamble.

I doubt it's the 'Nucks though. If anythign I think Atlanta

3. Giving up a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd is a lot but not taking any of the Kings existing young players and prospects might be a risk that pays off.

The only thing that grabs my attention is that Terry Murray may not get the nicest Christmas card from his brother.

If Edmonton named him assistant GM, it wouldn't have worked. I imagine for the first year they do most of the work together, but it will be Tambellini in charge thereafter.

LA may not have the 3rd in order to have done this. Didn't we send a 09 3rd Calgary's way during the draft this year? Or am I just high?

I'd take the picks and run if it was Atlanta who made that offer. Top 5 pick for sure.

Atlanta or Anaheim [or Columbus]

Anaheim then trades Schneider to us.

Heh.. Wouldn't surprise me if it was Gillis. Sign Mez to the offersheet, then try to get Vermette for Bieksa out of spite.

Bieksa + 1st 2nd 3rd for Vermette and Mez. Haha.

We can definitely say no to Philly, no to San Jose, no to Calgary and no to Anaheim.

After that, this gives a potential 17 teams. Really doesn't bring the number down at all. What about teams with at *least* $5m+ free?

- Colorado
- Florida
- Carolina
- St. Louis
- Vancouver
- Nashville
- Columbus
- NY Islanders
- Phoenix
- Atlanta

10 teams... who hates Ottawa most?

*remembers the Yashin trade*

Meszaros is now an Islander. It's elementary, HFBoards

Come to think of it, the Habs DO have an empty roster next season. If Gainey wanted to make sure he'd have enough warm bodies in case Komi, etc.. left Meszaros would be a guy he'd probably want around. not only that but the Habs are stocked with prospects. Not high-end guys, but prospects none the less. Giving up picks right now WOULD be the time to do it.

EVen if it fails, screws a division rival.

I love it

Do you actually think Murray would even talk to Gillis if he were the one that sent the offer sheet? You have to be losing your mind.

For the person who suggested Boston could pick up a 2nd to do this, it has to be the team's own picks.

That's why we saw a weird trade between the Oilers and Islanders about a week before the Penner offer.

From Edmonton:
Anaheim's 2nd round pick (acquired in Pronger trade)

From Islanders:
Edmonton's 3rd round pick (acquired in Grebeshkov trade)
Allan Rourke (AHL veteran)
