parrish for warrener. add here and there as you see fit, but i think this idea holds some water.

flames needs goals, isles need a guy like warrener.

comments?

Warrner's trade value exceeds Parrish's.

If you trade Parrish, you enter the playoffs with Czerkawski as the only experience top six winger. The Isles are much weaker on the wings then they are on defense, which is why I think they should stand pat.

Beside, coming off a major injury, Parrish's trade value right now is not high.

i should state that i don't want parrish to be moved and that this suggestion is based on the recent newspaper speculation about parrish moving to obtain a d-man (especially in light of the martinek developments). if parrish is moved for a d-man i would hope that the isles would pony up something with him, and perhaps extra for a guy like warrener (young, able to handle quality minutes, good in own zone, can rough it up when necessary, etc)

I understand your logic, and I admit that I'm a Rhett W. fan too.

Warrener has been one of the best Flames this season. I highly doubt he'll be moved. Gauthier on the hand, maybe we can work something out.

Warrener has been arguably our best defenseman this year. He is going nowhere. Gauthier on the other hand could be available. Gauthier for Parrish seems fair to me.

That is basically wishful thinking. Gauthier is a #5 dman on the Islanders, and Parrish is a legitimate # 2 winger.

I don't think Parrish for Rhett W. can happen, but I think Gauthier for Parrish is even more unrealistic.

Agreed.

No way does Sutter trade Rhett, and no way does Gauthier land Parrish for the Flames. Flames fans are dreaming if they think Gauthier is enough to pry Parrish out of NYI.

Thinking that Warrener could be trade bait is silly, but that's not to defend some of the equally ludicrous conduct of some of my Flames fan brothers either. The same elements, who invented the Gauthier for Parrish proposals, are the same who thought that Gauthier could bring in Tanguay.

You bet. But it wouldn't be at the expense of Warrener. It would be Gauthier, and i know the Isles wouldn't touch that (and rightfully so).

Warrener, Leopold and Regehr aren't going to be moved from that Calgary blueline.

We'll take Gauthier in Columbus. Seems like everyone has him being traded but no value is "fair". Anything on our roster (or off) that could be of interest to Calgary? Top tier kids are out..no Nash, Klesla, Zherdev, Johnson, Malhotra...We'd love a solid right wing as another option but that's a different thread.

Thanks

I am wondering if Calgary, making a playoff run this year, might be a good trade partner for the Capitals?

Would some combination of Gauthier and young player/prospect or pick on Calgary's side, and maybe Witt plus a rental such as a pending free agent such as Carter or Nylander from Washington, make sense for Calgary?

If you trade Scatch, who other big physical forwards to the Isles have in the top nine? Scatch, IMO, is one player they simply can't afford to move.

I really don't see Calgary loading up on expensive players or impending UFAs. They've got a solid young nucleus, but no real chance to go far this year. Probably, they'll hold onto what they have, perhaps making a move to turn Gauthier into some forward depth.

Let's go through it again:

Bertuzzi, McCabe, Ruttu for Linden
Linden for Mezei
Mezei for Wiemer
Wiemer to waivers

While we'er at it we might as well review the 'Nucks return on Cam Neely as well.

Both happened at different times. I'm by no means a Milbury supporter, but he's not been the trigger happy man he was in the past. Stable ownership has helped him out as well as the team.

Parrish for Warrener is an unworthy deal from Calgary's standpoint.

Both are good players. Warrener's worth (as a bruising dman), particularly to the Flames, is considerably higher than Parrish's would be.

I realize that Gauthier can't fetch Parrish alone but could he be packaged?

Am I way off on Parrish's value here? I always thought of him as a streaky goal scorer who does little else particularily well, not unlike Anson Carter. Maybe I just don't value those kind of players as much.

Edit: 4000th post!

Yes Parrish is as streaky as any goal scorer in the NHL.However,he takes massive punishment in front of the net every game, takes hits along the boards to make a play and is very aware of the defensive zone.Parrish is by no means a power forward but is as gritty as they come.

How much do value #5 defensemen who have a tendency to pound the puck into the middle of traffic during a forecheck?
