Not really. Meszaros is good, but we have talented d-men in the system... and at five+ million per, I'm not a taker. He would be a nice addition, but not with the current situation (IMO).

I don't want him, it's going cost too much for what it's worth.

Gainey ought to be fired on the spot if he did something like that.

I surely hope not

Keep the draft picks, we don't need him...

The Habs don't have their own 2nd round pick for the next draft, which would be needed for compensation. Can't be them...unless they make a trade to get that 2nd back from Calgary (I think it was the Flames)?

The poster on the Sens board said TB - but I think their missing a pick as well.

I'd rather go after him than Schneider for almost the same price.

I really hope it's not Montreal. Otherwise, couldn't really care which team it is.

Schneider's allure has more to do with contract length than amount. The hit can easily fit under Montreal's cap, and is only for one year; if he doesn't pan out, so be it. Anaheim is also in a situation where they need to move somebody, and Schneider is most likely going to be the odd man out; I don't imagine the compensation being very high.

Meszaros, on the other hand, would require a lot of compensation; a first, second, and third round pick, as well as the five+ million a season to sign him, plus the potential of losing key players next year. Some will say, "Well, pack your bags, Koivu," but he may not be the only one to leave in such a situation, either.

If it's true, Ottawa will be even weaker than was projected recently, but they might match. If he joins a team in the East, it might have some impact on the order of finish.

Dammit....I copied and pasted it from another post and I never even noticed it was spelled wrong. Better pay closer attention I guess.

Why isn't it known which team it is if he actually already signed?

Wouldn't it be all over the place if there was already ink to paper?

Not completely doubting, just wondering is all...

Likely our biggest rival for a division title may lose their lone experienced puck mover and you don't really care?

They can't. The team that signs the player to the OS has to have the correct picks (and these picks have to be their own) in order for OS to be compensated.

There is a fixed compensation package for $ amount. These picks, I'm pretty sure, are not negotiable.

A TSN article says the Sens are denying the rumor and his agent has no comment so I do not think anything is signed. Also, I would not want him as a Hab at that price. If we give him that, how are we going to resign Komi and at what price?
