Probably not. Lecavalier and St. Louis have earned that right. Lecavalier will be captain, he wasn't ready for it when he was in his early 20's.

Andreychuk didn't play much either so using your logic he must have been a bad captain.

Roberts and Recchi will help yes, no matter how many minutes they play. What will also help is having a captain this year. Lecavailer is the leader of this team, its now not JUST him anymore though.

He turned into the scapegoat for Ottawa. I wouldn't be surprised... you never know until it happens.

But he's not on your team anymore. i dont really get that, since he did so much for your orginization. i would understand if he was still on your team.

I don't either, he might get booed. He's a great guy off ice so that's why I have my doubts about it.

He was ripped apart and rumors were started and such. He got treated really poorly by some fans and the media.

He played awful for two years with Sens.....I'm not sure that deserves booing as he helped the organization for a lot of years...But it's natural, you know, to boo a player that once was a Sens player and has moved on. [Unless it's a situation like Bourque].

The Chara trade got me pretty pissed at him also, although it wasn't really his fault.

Good deal for the lightning. Would have handcuffed Ottawa in the future though.

I think both teams come out of this on the ups.

I was a big Meszaros supporter, and wanted him here, but financially it doesnt seem like it would have worked. That 4 million would be a major pain a few years down the road.

If we can keep replacing "puck moving d men" who want a payday with cheap unproven ones (see: Corvo, Preissing, Meszaros, Kuba, Picard), I will be very very happy.

Agreed. I booed Redden when he was here for being the worst D man on the Senators by quite a fair margin, but now he is someone elses problem. Definately not worth the time.

Rachunek was my favorite defenseman when I was in high school. LOL. I still don't think he's that bad, I just realize how soft he is now. Him and Wade must have been like tissue. No wonder everyone called Ottawa soft

I have always insisted that Jay feaster was the worst gm in the game. In one off season the new gm has already accomplished a lot more than feaster did in his entire tenure.

Thankfully FOTS isn't a Lightning fan. But he is right, if Feaster were still in charge our one major signing would have been Adam Hall.

Well, that's just a differing opinion. Like I mentioned in another thread, Bryan Murray is one of the last guys I'm trusting in making that distinction. He has a proven history of driving successful teams into the ground.

Yeah, he sure ran Detroit into the ground. Seeing as how they haven't missed the playoffs ONCE since he was there

Maybe you mean when Murray built the expansion Panthers into a cup contender from nothing in just a few years? Nope, that's actually an insane feat

Maybe you meant when he went to a moribund Anaheim franchise and THEY went to the cup...With only Lupul, Smid, Getzlaff, Perry, etc they were in SHAMBLES.

Actually you know what, I think I should jsut reply with facepalm

Oh, and here's a list of his 1st round picks. Just to get a rough idea of his drafting.

# 1990: Keith Primeau (3rd overall)
# 1991: Martin Lapointe (10th overall)
# 1992: Curtis Bowen (22nd overall)
# 1993: Rob Niedermayer (5th overall)
# 1994: Ed Jovanovski (1st overall)
# 1995: Radek Dvorak (10th overall)
# 1996: Marcus Nilson (20th overall)
# 1997: Mike Brown (20th overall)
# 2001: Stanislav Chistov (5th overall)
# 2002: Joffrey Lupul (7th overall)
# 2003: Ryan Getzlaf (19th overall) & Corey Perry (28th overall)
# 2004: Ladislav Smid (9th overall)

Maybe two of them Bowen and Brown (late rounders both) could be considered bad picks. Most have gone on to fame, fortune, and long careers.

They do still have elite players who've won the Cup, you know.

stupid move on ottawa's part for not matching a 6/24 deal. that deal will look killer in a year or two.

How do you possibly get that? I really don't understand. Are you talking about that same Bryan Murray that re-tooled the Florida Panthers and brought them to the Cup Finals? Or the Bryan Murray who took the 2003 Ducks to the Cup Finals against all odds? Or the one who drafted Perry, Getzlaf, acquired Rob Niedermayer (which was integral in landing his brother - something I'm sue not lost on Murray at the time). He scouted universites and grabbed Chris Kunitz and Dustin Penner. The only reason his name isn't on the Duck's Cup was because he wanted to GM in his hometown.

I don't know what you were going on there, I really don't.
