Have to disagree with Nash & Kovalchuk. Both are 2 years away from UFA and unless there's a drastic turn around on their respective teams, it doesn't look like they would re-sign, so it's pretty logical that they may be traded before hitting the market.
I do see it possible for Kovalchuk to be traded at some point, but not Nash. He's just starting to tap into his potential and once he gets a good center to play with, his value will be sky high. I don't think Columbus would trade him unless they can get full value of what he's really worth, which they're not going to get if he doesn't have an adequate center. If that makes sense. So I'd say Nash's not going anywhere.
people agree to waive ntc's every year. Mccabe may be doing it next week. there is no reason not to include players with ntc's. in fact there is nothing wrong with talking about any player, as any player can be traded. talking about trading a top guy for a bunch of pieces when there is no reason to move him, that gets annoying, but the list is ridiculous. who's left? this is all about speculation and fun, if youre sick of defending your teams players on the trade board - spend time eslewhere.
I think Derek Roy is untouchable, like Pominville. He scored 81 points last season and is a great penalty killer and is even used effectively on the PP. He just signed a 6 year deal which has 5 years remaining, so I don't think Buffalo would let Roy go for anything. He, Miller, and Pominville are all faces of this team that the Sabres are building off of.
