Honestly, how is someone allowed to clearly troll and attack a fanbase like this?

Read the other thread on McCabe on this board and you'll see my post wasn't that far off.

Many trades had both Van Ryn and Booth coming to Toronto in exchange for McCabe and a pick.

It's not trolling if it's the truth.

I would think that draft pick can bring back Zednik or Dvorak at least. Fletcher really is a ****** GM, eh?

Why the f@uck would we take back another defensemen , it would have made more sense to take back Zednik at least he can score. STUPID TRADE

Cept' Coliacavo is scheduled for his yearly injury for the 14th of November.

And Jonas Frogren is unproven at the NHL level.

Comes with the territory of being the Hockey Mecca of the world. People envy that.

Toronto better be getting back at least Stewart for that draft pick that has been thrown in. **** I would have rather have Campoli and a pick. Now Toronto has to add a pick for someone to take Mccabe. Another horrible trade by Fletcher , giving up a second for Garbovski come on.

Murray for a 22 year old defenseman who has not progressed at all since his rookie season got

Kuba, Picard and a 1st

______________________________________

Fletcher for a 33 year old savvy vet who had two 15+ goal 50+ point seasons prior to an injury last season got

VanRyn an injury plagued defenseman, but had to also give a pick for him.

Seriously?

Van Ryn is a really good defenseman, but McCabe doesn't have negative value. At least not to the point where Fletcher has to add picks to make trades.

Great trade for both teams, IMO.

Honestly though, I think the winner of this deal is McCabe himself. He needed out of Toronto so bad and I think this move will help him get his game back together.

Fletcher just gets ripped here.
The Leafs need scoring. Zednik would have been appropriate.
I thought Fletch was doing a great job until this. Awful trade.

On Florida's part, great deal.
Bouwmeester, Allen, Ballard, McCabe is a great top 4.
And Skrastins and Boynton as your third pair isn't bad.

Hockeywise, McCabe is useful to a team.

It's the combination of his NMC (severely reducing the amount of possible destinations), the intense criticism of McCabe by the Toronto media and Fletcher publicly declaring his interest in moving him that gave him a negative value.

Van Ryn isn't better than Mccabe offensively , but defensively yeah he is.m BY the way no offense to Mccabe but what the f@ck do I care what is better for Mccabe, as a Gm you are supposed to do whatever it takes to make your team better. This trade hurts the Leafs this season and if we move a pick next season as well. We will have no second or third round picks for what two years in a row, that's an interesting re-build. NOTHING HAS CHANGED

That's pretty much how I would have put it. If McCabe had a decent season and stayed with the Leafs, the bidding would have started at a 1st round pick.

Except Mezaros didn't have a 5.75M cap hit and a NMC.

Although I think the trade had to happen (horrible return though), I still don't see any sort of direction for the Leafs. On one hand they're rebuilding a bit with this trade, last year's trades, and the buyouts, but at the same time they're paying big money to role players like Finger and Hagman. Funny how they're trading with a team that seems to be in the same boat--Florida.

The reason the Leafs got Van Ryn was to improve our defense. Our d-men gave up way too many goals last year. Now we have a respectable defense core. The D-men's first job is to PREVENT goals not score.

Fletcher is obviously senile and should be brought out behind the old tool shed and shot. McCabe AND a pick for an injury recovering, and less skilled, d-man? What the hell?

Fletch has that look in his eye, like black holes in the sky.

What a tool. Other than Frogren and Schenn, he's done nothing but crapped on the team.
