Four different #20 in the last 4 seasons
Is this number a curse or something? Our last two #20 have only lasted one year in Montreal (Johnson, Smolinski) and the other #20 (Zednik) left Montreal and never recovered and even suffered a life-threatening injury. I hope for Lang it's not a curse!

I think Lang will be better for us than Smoke or Johnson as it will be a scoring line not a shutdown line.

Who's wearing #20 before Zednik ?
I remember back in 1990s, I wished that Robitaille wore that number with Habs.

I was actually talking about this a couple days ago.
And barring Lang being a standout all year and playoffs I do not think he will be back, unless he takes a serious discount.

Incidently, the reason my username is Tricolore#20 is because I was a huge Zeddy fan at the time I chose it. Maybe it is time for me to move on as well?

I was telling a friend of mine the same thing. If this ends up being Lang's last season in the NHL, I say it's cursed.

It's clearly bad luck because Scott Lachance wore it.

Nah, it won't be cursed. He'll retire a Stanley Cup champion

wait a minute!!!
Jean Beliveau wore #20 in 1951 and our current head coach himself wore the number in 1981. Both, however, appear to have changed numbers at some point in the season. So all that need happen is to change his number mid season and we are all good!

Speaking of Mike Johnson, does anyone else miss the way he always fell on his ass whenever he scored?

MJ
Mike J from my perspective was not cursed by #20, I thought he has a positive season with us...
Statistically and overall I was satisfied with him...more work ethic though wouldn't have hurt along with what is commonly called...er.."grit"
The Perez Bonk MJ line was too quickly disbanded and we just let the players bolt...elsewhere...
Zednik was not that unpopular and has always produced relatively ok...
Smolinski was not spectacular for us but not a complete disaster...

I would be happy with anything between 35 and 55 points for Robert Lang. A contribution on the Powerplay and some leadership is enough in his case.
As for Smolinspuke, he was a disaster IMO.

I miss Zednik. He was a good Hab. Worked his tail off night after night. Big playoff performer also.

I miss the pre-McLaren Zednik.
I don't miss the current Zednik. One hand on the stick, behind the net. Play with nostril during play-breaks.

And it's very likely that it will be 5 in 5 as Lang is a UFA at the end of the year.

Zednik had his best years after McLaren.... He still drove to the net hard in 03 and 04. After the lockout though, he wasn't as good. I don't know what changed things, but it wasn't the McLaren hit.
