Carbonneau's got his line-up 95% made up

In an video interview on rds.ca, Guy Carbonneau says he's got his lines (trios) already made up and his line-up is about 95% complete.

The point of this topic is not a rehash of the lines (I'm guessing basically same line-ups as last year, I imagine except for slotting in Tanguay, Laraque and that 5% person(s)) but who is perceived as having a shot of making the team.

The big thing about this comment is that not likely many (if any) new kids'll make the team - at least on opening night.

I'm guessing that Bouillon, Dandenault, Brisebois and any others (Kostopoulos?) that many have been saying will be gone will, in fact, be back with the team.

Whatcha think?

That 5% is probably nothing to get excited about.

It can be one of these two things, or both:

1. The slight chance that Sundin does come over.
2. The fact that he doesn't want to say 100% so that kids will still want to compete their hardest to win a spot, even though they won't

No surprise here...

But, that won't keep people putting up lineups with Chipchura over Lapierre, Begin, Kostopoulos...

Or even MaxPac... and, why not, Valentenko...

Not me anymore. I've had enough of this lil drama queen. If he does come over, good, we'll have a better shot at winning the cup, but until then, I won't be the one caring.

So he is 95% ready. So that's 12 forward+6Defenceman+2goalies=20
5% out of 20 is 1 player.

Personally, I would think that he is. It's between him and Lapierre and I would think that Chiper gets it providing he wins face off.
Lapierre is ahead now but not by much. We will see but if not at the start, by mid November, I would expect Chipchura.

Lappierre's spot is fully secured on the Habs next year no question about it, it's players like Bégin, Dandenault and Kostopoulos that have to be careful

So then basically, if Carbonneau can claim to pretty much have his mind made up without training camp, then you can assume no younger guys will displace the older guys and the only new faces are Tanguay and Laraque. The line up could very well be:

A.Kostitsyn --------- Plecanec ----------- Kovalev
Tanguay ------------- Koivu ------------- Latendresse
Higgins -------------- ??????? ------------ S.Kostitsyn
Begin/Kosto --------- Lapierre ------------ Laraque/Dandenault

Markov --------------- Komisarek
Hamrlik --------------- O'Byrne/Brisebois
Gorges --------------- Boullion

Price
Halak

Not including the extra players, that's 19 spots out of 20 (95%). It seems Chipchura will be given every opportunity to win the center spot and S.Kostitsyn will be given every opportunity to win the center spot. If Chipchura forms a nice line with Higgins and S.Kostitsyn, then things are set. If S.Kostitsyn performs very well at center, then a new winger may be on the club and Chipchura in the minors again. Who knows, but it looks like one spot is up for grabs........

If it really comes down to Kyle Chipchura VS Sergei Kostitsyn for the 3rd line center role, then Kyle ''Freakin" Chipchura has no chance againts the young phenom, mark my words !!

Though, I don't believe any of them will be the 3rd line center, because Gainey will probably acquire someone more appropriate for that role, so Sergei can stay on the wing...

I heard the interview in french and all Carbo says is that he's about 95 % sure what his line up will look like ...

maybe he should've said he's 83 % sure ... I could see some of you guys evaluating player percentages, quotas and someone hiring a Financial analyst ...

bums ...

He did say, later, on being questioned about the possibility of some of the young kids making the team (the reporters were really meaning Pacioretti) that he will be giving the young ones all the chances that they need to prove themselves just like he did in the past.
This is sort of contradictory to what he said about the 95% but then again, he may still be saying that he only has one (or two) spots available.
Will this be Chipchura's time?

Phenom is a strong word for a .51 PPG... Kost never played center, and Chip always played there, so what ?

Oh, and our 3rd line ain't a checking line... it's a scoring line...

Concerning the main topic, well if his line-up is 95% made up, then perhaps we'll see more youngsters playing in preseason ! I sure hope so

This means nothing. Unless Carbo or Gainey is webmaster and is the one updating that roster.
