Avangard Omsk announced that they hired a new head coach, but they are hiding his name because the deal is not 100% done as he could not reach Russia yet, and they confirmed that he will be a well-known name from Canada.

The most probable name is for the moment Wayne Fleming, and this was already written by some Canadian media.

metallurg NK seems to be a pleasant surprise. Where did they rank before the season?

I would say that they will drop sooner or later. They have no stars and in a long season it will hurt them. But it will be fun to see if they manage to top the standings or even to stay let's say in the first 6/7 teams. Their first line clicks good and is very quick.

I'm disappointed that none of their games have been streamed yet.

Has Westcott for Riga tried to hit an opposing player going down the wall with a hip check yet? He tried to do it every game in NHL when he was here, was wondering if he's keeping the tradition alive.

Kevin Dallman in 11 games for Barys Astana scored 7 goals. This is the same number of goals scored by Jaromir Jagr and just 1 goal less than his entire output in NHL.

According to the KHL Website, he is averaging 11 minutes per game.

Haven't noticed it, but I haven't been looking for it either, I'll try to remember about this when watching the next few games.

Indeed, I have noticed that too One team even scored a goal on us after he let the guy by. Other than that he is playing quite good here, first pair.

Good to hear that Duvie isn't letting the size of the rink change his playing style

Is it true that his contract was 1.1 million last season in Columbus?

Last season it was 1.85 million, actually (the previous GM liked Duvie alot and gave him a good contract). He got another concussion and was deemed not good enough for the NHL anymore (his play had declined for a few seasons), he took the demotion to the minors in stride and finished the season in the AHL and was bought out over the summer.

Masalskis has a broken ankle and is out for a few months. Sperrle had his first game yesterday - came in after the first and was pretty good.

Another young hockey player in Russia has died. According to Russian news reports, 20-year-old goalie Artur Bagautdinov died Thursday night in a fall from a second-story window while visiting his friends’ apartment in Kaliningrad. Bagautdinov played for Yuzhny Ural Orsk in the Russian Vyshaya Liga, that country’s equivalent of the A.H.L. Until this season he had played for Ak Bars-2, the Vyshaya Liga farm club of Ak Bars Kazan.

LA never gave him any ice time, i wonder where this is coming from is he just completely abandoning his defensive responsibilities? or is he really playing this good?
