This ofcourse doesnt take into account the extra 10 mil in capspace we have, or that fact that we're going to stink for the next year or two and draft high.
Only Kulemin remains

Here is a guess for the Buffalo Sabres.

Compher - Grigorenko - Armia
Ennis - Hodgson - Bailey/Hurley
Larsson - Girgensons - Catenacci
Foligno - Ott - Tropp

I have no clue. Some combination of Myers, McNabb, McCabe, Pysyk, Ehrhoff, Weber, Zadorov, Ristolainen, Rundwhel, or possibly McBain and Leduc.
Myers - Zadorov
Ristolainen - Ehrhoff
Pysyk - McNabb

Enroth/Hackett
Makarov/Ullmark

Anaheim Ducks (only current players and prospects):

Etem - Getzlaf - Perry
Langaniere - Holland - Palmieri
Smith-Pelly - Bonino - Rakell
Wagner - Karlsson - Kerdiles

Fowler - Lindholm
Sbisa - Vatanen
O'Brien - Theodore

Gibson
Andersen

I do believe Anaheim will trade a few of these names (and Perry) for other needs and include veterans. But five years from now we will see how many of the above mentioned players are still with the team and panned out

Hey guys, I havn't been on this forum for a while but I was re-reading most of these post. The Sharks are nothing as what I thought they would be when looking at them now.

How different is your team looking? Enjoy guys.

Bolded are the only ones on the team right now.

Could you imagine if that was the lineup... We would have to be the front runners for Matthews

Even just 2 years later, and already so much different. Oh, jeez, if Grigorenko and Armia were on our top line, Hodgson on the 2nd.

Bolded are the only players actually on the Sabres. Underlined's rights are held by the team, but they aren't in the NHL.

Threads like this are always funny to look back on. Not many prophets here on HF. Some prospects always pan out differently than expected, and trades can come out of nowhere.

Oh man does the current roster look so different..

Now it's

Nash - Stepan - Zucc
Kreider - Brass - Fast
Lindberg - Hayes - Miller
Stalberg - Moore - Stoll

McDonagh - Klein
Yandle - Girardi
Staal - Boyle

Hank
Raanta

There are literally 3 guys on that roster that are on the current roster(Hank, Staal, Stepan).

omfg i'm dead

Let's try this. I don't think my Nucks will be particularly good in 5 years. And we don't have a whole lot for the left wing. Barring trades and signings, I think this is what it'd be.

Hunter Shinkaruk - Bo Horvat - Brock Boeser (Yes, I do like this guy more than Virtanen)
Sven Baertschi - Jared McCann - Jake Virtanen
Brendan Gaunce - Cole Cassels - Jannik Hansen
Ronalds Kenins - Dmitry Zhukenov - Alexandre Grenier

Alex Edler - Chris Tanev
Ben Hutton - Andrey Pedan
Luca Sbisa - Jordan Subban (rip subban)

Thatcher Demko
Jacob Markstrom

beats me. Doubt it's Stolarz. Boucher will only be 41...
Welp. 2 years and 9 months later, barely over half way through the five-year span and I am already quite off, lol and it isn't exactly likely to go towards resembling this going forward.

Would love to have OEL, I knew that one was the long shot of the bunch. Depressed about the Manning prediction being true up until now (when he isn't 7th), but he won't be around in the 5 year mark from my original post for sure. Would have loved Williams right now. Really glad Coots is still with us for now. Lol I got the entire bottom-6 wrong already, with the exception of Cousins sometimes. Maybe when the time is finished though I'll have him right. I would've loved Gillies, too.

Someone else predicted at the same time as me:

Bobby Ryan-Giroux-Voracek
Hartnell-B Schenn-Simmonds
Cousins-Laughton-McGinn
Rinaldo-Talbot-Token Goon.

Seth Jones-L Schenn
Gostisbehere-Coburn
Grossmann-Gustafsson

S. Mason
M Leighton (sarcastically)

He got 8 right, I got 8 right so far (if you count Cousins).

I commented on his saying:
I think out of that list:
Hartnell, Laughton, McGinn, (L) Schenn, Coburn, and Grossmann will be gone. We shall see!
Got Laughton wrong, but the rest right.

I then slightly adjusted my list:
Voracek-Giroux-Read
Simmonds-Schenn-B. Ryan
Cousins-C. Gillies-J. Williams
Rinaldo-Cameron Askew-Crombeen
(maybe Brad Winchester instead of Askew)

Nurse-Ekman-Larsson
Anthony DeAngelo-J. Boychuk
Gostisbehere-Manning

Bernier (I think Fasth, Ward, and Harding could all potentially be targetted)
Justin Peters

Got 8 again. Where I did do pretty good though to be honest, so far, while I mis-predicted some departures, I was pretty spot on with forwards for who would stay.

"This would leave us with the current players from our system or roster:
Voracek, Giroux, Read, Simmonds, Schenn, Cousins, Rinaldo (that's an awful lot of the same forwards, I think Giroux/Voracek are the only ones that I'm almost sure will still be around - after that Simmonds is most likely to stay perhaps over read/schenn/cousins/rinaldo)
Gostisbehere-Manning"

Only got Rinaldo wrong out of 9 players I said would stay. But again, Manning will be gone in another 2 years.

I sure missed the ball with Sanheim/Konency/Provorov/Neuvy, all probably all but guarenteed to be there in 2 years/3 months.

I mostly guessed the 4th line based on what type of game the prospects played, and I really doubt Sam Carrick will stay with the Leafs until 2020. There will obviously be free agents signed and players traded away, I can't imagine the Leafs icing a team with only one or two players who weren't drafted and developed in Toronto, but crazier things have happened. I decided to go with Reimer over Bernier because I've always thought that Reimer is the better goalie when he is confident in his abilities and when he does not have to worry about losing his starting job.

Zucker - Granlund -Nino
Nino - 2016 1st/Coyle - Tuch
Parise - Eriksson Ek - Coyle/2016 1st
Kaprizov - Graovac - Fontaine

Suter - Spurgeon
Scandella - Brodin
Reilly - Dumba
Olofsson - Belpidio

Kuemper/Dubynk
Kahkonen

Blueline will be very, very good by this point. Suter should age well and the other five should be in their prime. Forwards lack a true game breaker but they are deep and big and fast.

Well I'll be damned. That's actually worse than the Leafs current lineup, and that's tough to do. Lots of bad memories in this lineup.

Very disheartening that Steen and Stralman, the two best players in this lineup, were both traded for pretty much nothing.
