Anyway..I'm liking my team. It's got a mix of big point producers, young guys who probably will improve, PIM producing forwards, and solid goaltending. But..My defense is old(most of my guys will only play 60-70 games), and i picked them up way late-aside from brent burns.
Yes, but the best D-men can often put up better numbers than a mid-range forward. And given that a lot of leagues require at least 4 d-men, sometimes more, those points can make a BIG difference. Especially in H2H leagues.

IMO, it's only worth getting an elite dman who's guaranteed to put up the points. Otherwise, you're missing out on great forwards. You can just fill the D spots later with decent blue liners and younguns with the potential to break out.

In the interests of science - well, mostly for fun - I made a tally of where some current and former Sharks went in the drafts. It goes like:

Name: league 1/league 2

Nabokov: 4th/7th overall
Thornton: 8th/3rd
Boyle: 26th/21st
Cheechoo: 74th/56th
Marleau: 79th/67th
Michalek: 113th/73rd
Pavelski: 137th/188th
Setoguchi: 168th/209th
Blake: 176th/99th
Ehrhoff: 177th/117th
Douglas Murray: not picked/74th
Vlasic: not picked/198th

And some former Sharks:

Kiprusoff: 32nd/27th
Campbell: 47th/39th
Toskala: 120th/113th
Sturm: 101st/134th
Rivet: 136th/164th
Bernier: 182nd/200th
Stuart: not picked/212th

(if i I forgot anyone, let me know)

Auto draft failed me in both leagues lol, I got crap goaltenders in both Have to improve by trades/waivers from this. Sucked giving up Lidström but it's good value I think.

aside from +/-, Green has the chance to put up the same amount of points as Lids (well, close 60+) you also got Brown

Yeah, I like the value coming back, since it's a 2 for 1 deal. But Lidström is who he is.

I always don't think of it as a 2 for 1 since I would have to drop someone anyways. So I still lose 2 players and get 2 players.

I noticed, just saying though. I always look at the numbers of who I drop to see how the player I acquire will compare.

But I liked that trade, I tried to get both Lids and Green so you guys got something done that I couldn't

Yeah I rejected one of your proposals for Lidas thinking I wasn't going to trade him for anything, but thinking over my forward situation, I kind of had to.

I would have sworn that throwing Daniel Sedin your way would have done it. I thought if anything did, it would have been a high scoring Sweedish (is that right, sorry I'm lame) forward

I've never been a fan of the Sedin twins actually, so it didn't help really

I used to work graveyard shift and my sleep pattern was all messed up. During the week I would be up all night and then on the weekends I would try and sleep at normal times like normal people. That didn't work out well

Wonder who got the most 70+ point forwards?
shark sandwich- 5
Healthy scratches- 3
The cup is mine- 3
East coast bias=lame- 3(4 since nash is at 69)
moosefactory Beavers- 4
Jcast- 1
The Murray übertaps-0 (1 since backstrom is 69)
Annoying- 6(7 since plekanec is 69)
TheGOOOOCH- 5
Hungry Hippos- 4
The Wendigos- 3

I actually thought i had more than that..But i've got a few guys who could hopefully get to 70 so i don't have many worries.

I have 1, 2 with Backströms 69, and Franzen might push it if he goes crazy like last years playoffs and March.

alright i'll give you backstrom since i gave the other guys one for their 69's as well.

Franzen..eh..He can do it if he doesn't get injured. But he's already had injuries even though he's still young, can't imagine it getting much better. Even then..He'd have to have a stellar year.

For me i've got a few guys i'm hoping to have great years, such as Bouchard who has about 60 points. He just needs to get back to scoring 25 goals and being his normal assist king self.

I think Horcoff will put up 70 this year as he put up 50 in 53 games last year

I highly doubt Stamkos puts up that many in Tampa.

I don't know, they are saying that he will be centering the 2nd line and they are going to scale back the minutes of the Vinny line. He'll have Malone on his left (probably) and possibly Recchi or someone else on his right. He's got a chance at putting up about 70 points if all goes well.

I would think 50 points is reasonable this year if he plays "average". If he does very well, 70 or higher is not out of reach.

if Ellis or Huet does well then i'm happy with my team. Weak defense but i like my forwards. I do wish i was stronger in short handed goals but oh well..it's just one stat after all.
