The FAN 960's Rob Kerr is the new play-by-play man while former NHL sniper Charlie Simmer will handle the colour.
New PBP combo for PPV's.

Has Kerr ever done PBP? What the hell happened to Millions? First sportsnet demotes him and now he is gone from the Pay per views.

Millions wasn't much of a colour guy in terms of objectivity and solid opinions but I liked him. I'll forever miss his legendary and constant voice cracks when he was excited. I don't know about Rob Kerr, I like his fight calls but doing the entire game may be too much. I'm willing to give him a chance but why don't they just sync Peter Maher's audio with the broadcast and remove the feed when he goes to commercial?

Time to get used to Peter "He shoots, he sssssssscccccccccccyyyyyoooooreeeeeeeeees" Lombardis.

I think Millions is going to be the host for the Flames' Sportsnet games and I wouldn't be surprised if he does the PPV games too.

CBC's new deal with the NHL allows regional broadcasters (SNET, PPV) to pick upSaturday games HNIC is not carrying.

Regional carriers cannot televise the two remaining Sat. games unless the CBC grants them permission because the CBC still has a monopoly starting at 1700h mountain time. The other two Sat. games are being shown by SNET (Jan. 3 at Nashville) and PPV (Feb. 14 at home vs. Anaheim) because they are matinees and will end before 1700h.

You don't think those games just magically appeared at irregular start times do you? To me its fairly obvious once CBC indicated they were not interested, the other broadcasters stepped in and asked for a time change. That's what I think, FWIW.

Edit: I just noticed the Oct 30 broadcast may be pre-empted if there is a Game 7 in the World Series. Sportsnet would then likely ask the Flames to change the time of one of the non-televised games so it doesn't conflict with HNIC. PPV could do the Oct 30 game but that would also require a time change - for another reason - the Oilers and Canucks are both doing PPV that night. AFAIK they all use the same routings on Shaw.

I see what you mean by the irregular start times, however, the game times were not changed. Those two afternoon games at 1300h Mountain time were on the original NHL schedule when it was released back in July.

I have a feeling the Oct. 30 Flames' game will go ahead as planned on SNET West. Baseball fans in that region will just have to watch the game on FOX.

Sportsnet is obligated to carry the WS nationally. Go here
http://sportsnet.ca/#showsked
and click on "Downloadable schedules". The Flames sked shows this:

Thur 10/30/08 Boston Calgary 7:00 MT pre-empted if game 7 World Series.

the only games they have blacked out the last couple years are the ones that are already televised in market... so anyone with CI will get the 2 untelevised games

You are correct. It is during the NL and AL championship series some SNET areas will miss the baseball game as hockey will be shown instead.

If the WS goes to a game 7, I wonder if the Flames game will be played in its entirety (tape delayed) after the game is over.

What Lunatik said. Not a big fan of paying for PPV games.
