911

I searched the forum and to my surprise there was no thread to remember the 911 victims. Better late than never I guess?

Anyways, its been 7 years already. Crazy huh?

There's one in the Rangers and Iles boards. Possibly the Devils board too.

You must've been like 4 when it happened.

I remember my dad taking me out of school (8th Grade at the time) and bringing me to the HS he worked at. It was the first time I ever cried from watching the news. I don't watch anything about it; documentaries, movies, YouTube clips, nothing. They're just too much, the memory is far to vivid for me to keep going back. But yea, 7 years feels like blur, blink, at this point.

Luckily I didn't lose any close family, but sadly there were a few neighbors/family friends/close friends relatives/and numerous acquaintances that were lost for me.

There was a thread about it here last night. It lasted less than 30mins then it dissapeared.

I remember I was about to leave for school, grade 11. It was a nice day, so I figured I'd bike.

My parents were talking about something, and the Today Show made the announcement that something, they thought an airplane, hit one of the towers. I interrupted my parents, and my mom said "that sounds really fishy" or something to that effect.

I left for school, and about 10 minutes later, when I arrived, everyone was surrounding the TV in the lounge. I thought nothing of it, and just went to my first class of the day.

I stopped by the TV on my way to my second class, French, and saw what had happened. Spent the rest of the day listening to the radio, or watching TV in the classes... and discussing things as a group.

It was a really, really ****ed up day that I'll never forget.

I was in the 6th grade back then and we only found out what happend when the kids that went home to lunch came back and told everyone what they saw on tv. None of the teachers told us anything. Well at least not our teacher, we didn't even discuss it after everyone knew that something had happend. I came home, saw my mom looking at the tv and sat down with her. I didn't fully grasp the situation until later that night. Watching those planes hit the buildings the first time seemed surreal. Like I was watching something that can't be really happening. But it is.

I was in computer class ignoring the teacher as usual. Diabloii.net (yeah, I was/am a nerd) had it up as one of the news items. It didn't really sink in how bad it was until I saw it on tv that night.

becuase all discussions tend to crash and burn and ends up with a mod coming on and sending everyone to the political board

Your side...

My side...

Whatever your side - humanity lost out that day and no plaque, no war, no revenge will ever bring back what was lost. Go forward in your life and treat everyone with the respect they give you, honor the fallen by rising above the depravity of mankind.

I was in grade 7 History, and the principal made an announcement about what had happened. I didn't really know what was happening, I didn't know what the World Trade Centers were, I didn't know what a terrorist was, all that. I didn't really even care until I got home and saw what I thought was some action movie.

I never really got the scope of it until I realized this stuff would be in the History books I was studying earlier. What a strange feeling...

Watched a program about it last night, forgot what atrocity was committed.

Mostly unseen footage last night, from personal video cameras.

I was in my ninth grade physical education class when it happened, i didn't know what had happened until I came back in for my history class. We watched everything about it on tv for 2 straight periods. My school is 6 blocks from the Capitol in DC. After 4th period people either had to gather in the gym or leave school. I hitched a ride with a teacher that lived somewhere near me. It took 6 hours to get out of the city, since everyone was leaving and all bridges inbound were closed.

Dark day in human history.
