yes it was worth a . since when do you not have to play great hockey to get to an olympic final?. they had 1-2 meltdowns on the road (lost to slovakia)
The slovakia game wasn't just a meltdown, it was an embarrasment to hockey and a disgrace to professional ice hockey players everywhere.
Quote:
that's why sweden > finland.
That I didn't disagree with, as seen by my earlier post. But to laugh at some one who says Finland looked better in the olympics was just plain out silly.

who's being silly now?

who said that? the post i responded to said this:
"But year 2006 was lucky year for swedes. All ice hockey specialists said that Finland was best ice hockey country in that year"
that's a laughable quote and the one i responded to
That was what turned me away from Sweden that year
It turned me away from hockey a bit. I thought these things only happened in soccer. Far more from a now-show game. It was just plain out silly how they didn't want to play. There was one guy who showed up to play, and he was between the pipes.
maybe i missed something can you please enlighten me?
I think he means when BÅG said that they "might" not give their all against Slovakia because if they won it was either Czech Republic or Canada in the quarter. ...Seriously though, I think that this was blown out of proportion. In the semi-final we did meet Czechs and won 7-3, which clearly showed that we deserved to be there.
Personally, when Sweden meet Switzerland it gave me the chills before-hand. Belarus-warning ran through my head repeatedly.
Okay, I want to see what people thinks of these ice hockey countries which are one of the world's best, or the best. I think that Finland is better though Sweden has achieved much more than Finland. But year 2006 was lucky year for swedes. All ice hockey specialists said that Finland was best ice hockey country in that year, but still Swedes was first and Finland third(?). Well, anyway most of medals what Sweden has are before 90's. But let's take a look what finnish and swedish team looks like now and in future.

Finland is my 2nd favorite hockey nation after Canada but Sweden has a better team. I admire the Finns because they work really hard and always do better than expected. And they have Saku Koivu.
World's most succesful country at motorsport and javelin throw. And finns are very good at boxing and very many sports. Finland was actually known country on 1900-1990's only because of sport.
But if US wouldn't have any blacks, you would be only good at hockey, maybe not even that.
So many are talking now here only about achieves. As I said, Sweden has achieved much more, but if we think about invidual players. Finland wins, and that's my opinion. I'm not overrating finns, but Selänne and Kurri wins two best swedes. (Börje Salming and Nick Lidström?)

Hmm..thats why the Czechs Zelezny and Spotakova are WR holders, right?
Lidstrom is better than any hockey player who hails from Finland. Forsberg was definitely better than Selanne.
Not to mention Sundin and Salming or Tumba Johansson.

Make a top-20 of the best hockeyplayers from Sweden and Finland combined, and Sweden will get 15 out of those spots.
Your biggest strenght, and what makes it possible for you to compete against Russians, Canadians, Czechs and Swedes, is your team, not your individual players.

Perhaps aside from a wicked goalie like Kipper.
