trade Brown, call up Gaustad to anchor the 4th line. Boulton/Peters-Gaustad-Mair. now that a 4th line.

That's a great fourth line. Too bad this team would miss Brown on the PK more than you can imagine.

Yeah, who cares that he had scored one goal in his previous 46 games. He had a two goal game so call him up!

I wan't calling him up for goal scoring. I was calling him up for size and physical presence on the fourth line. and i dont think brown would be missed on the PK too much. Hecht, Pyatt, Drury have been solid on the PK. and Ruff has always been good at getting what he wants from a player on the PK.

Over the course of this amazing streak it seems the Sabres ahve gone from a team that plays D first and waits for its chances to a team that comes out and attacks the other team. drives to the net. they are letting the D and goaltending play D and the offense is being allowed to go out and score goals. and its working. Brown's role with the Sabres is diminishing. Ruff isn't afraid to put his top line out against another teams top line.

I'd rather address that need through a trade than by calling up Gaustad.

Brown is one of the best PKers in the league and one of th only forwards in the NHL to be leading his team in blocked shots. He'd be sorely missed.

yeh, i hate that. his such a player we COULD trade, unless Pyatt turns into a dominant defensive force and Mair becomes a great defensive offenseman, or at least above average,it'll hurt too bad.

Look at our Penalty Kill the past 4 or 5 years. It has been top 10.Now it is top 5.The only D-men we have had for the past 5 years are McKee and Zhitnik.Brown has been our main forward on the PK.He plays solid and plays consistent. You could argue that he was just as good defensively as Peca when Peca was in Buffalo.Curtis Brown probably won't be back, but I could see him getting 2 million a year.

Also on penalty killing, that is the only thing Pyatt can do halfway decent.

Penalty Killing Trivia Questions:

1. Throughout his career, how many SECONDS per game has Afinogenov averaged on PK, which indicates his inadequacy in his own zone:

a) less than 1 second
b) between 1 & 2 seconds
c) between 2 & 3 seconds

2. Throughout his career, how many minutes per game has Connolly averaged on PK, which indicates his adequacy in his own zone:

a) less than 1 minutes
b) between 1 & 2 minutes
c) between 2 & 3 minutes

3. Has the Sabres PK ever been not ranked in the top ten post-Hasek, which would indicate that Ruff knows exactly what the hell he is doing in terms of playing the right people on PK?

a) Yes
b) No

ANSWER KEY: to all, b)
